The Shintō shrine Jōnangū (城南宮) in Kyōto, was a palace of Emperors from the beginning of the #Heian Period in 794. It has #gardens from different periods since then, and a patch of pink and white #plum blossoms around a big stone lantern is a most stunning sight to behold. Several years ago the head priest showed me around and explained the history in Japanese. Jōnangū is not well known to tourists, but it draws many reverent Japanese.
The third photo is of a teahouse and a reddish variety of plum blossoms. The last photo shows what my American friend whom I guided got: a seal written in #calligraphy by the shrine maiden (o-miko-san). Jōnangū is written down the center, with yesterday's date down the left side. The right side is what the shrine especially offers: houyoke - a #prayer to avoid obstacles or worries, such as with one's family. There is a great demand for such #blessings nowadays.
Plum tree today from underneath looking up at the sky.
I remembered eating some plums from this tree last year so when I found some plum trees blooming yesterday I went back with my camera today.
(Prunus mume)
On Tuesday, I lose my beloved #plum tree. 💔 I’m going to take some #cuttings even though it’s not ideal as it’s not winter yet. I still have to try for my very very sore heart.
I have sand, potting mix, perlite, rooting hormone… sharp shears. I’d like to try 4-6 cuttings since there’s no second chance. Does anyone have any suggestions? Cuts to make? Stripping bark off bottom? @tinahardman16 ? ❤️ (PS I don’t have the #propagation book yet! 😫) #Gardening#Propagating#propagateplants
#MeinLebenIstEinPonyhof#Zwetschge#Plum#Fruit
Feeling that back to school vibe in this pleasantly plum purple handmade with love beret in collaboration with sovamillinery and myself.
Blocked on an antique hat block I have restored and brought back to life. This block is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Apart from learning the art of making hats, I have found a love for hat block restoration.
I've forgotten some. There's seeds on a pineapple, and on a Banana. Both are likely sterile but I tried each without success.
Right now, I am growing daffodils from last year's seeds.
I've started one or two pots of all my varieties of tomatoes to see what starts. They should be able to go out in the greenhouse in a few weeks.
