After yesterday's windy and rainy 20km #run, we continued today with another 20km in lower altitude and fairer weather. Just as beautiful, and just as fun. First a climb on a hillside covered with some kind of white orchids, then across wild pastures into a forest. Lot of free-roaming cows, at some points there were so many that they blocked the entire path and sides, so we had problems passing through (their sharp horns can be scary up close). #Sardinia is very pretty for #running or #hiking.
Today was a target pace run for 15 mins (and an optional extra 5 mins) with 15 min warm up / cool down. The target pace was 7:28 - 7:48 and I ran the first interval (15 mins) at 7:30 and the second (5 mins) at 7:38. I was pretty pleased with this but Garmin gave me a 62% (average) execution score 🤔 …
i'm writing a fresh introduction for this new instance. something i haven't done for a while.
i'm a serial #fediverse instance creator (and destroyer) and have been doing this since 2018. many will already be familiar with my name or my avatar.
i'm a father of two awesome kids. i'm a huge fan of movies. i'm a gamer (#callofduty and #battlefield mostly). i'm a fan of #taylorswift. i eat to #run. i'm a huge #starwars and #startrek nerd. i'm a born and raised #engineer and have spent most of my career as a devops engineer and sre, though now i lead a most excellent team of devs and sres.
my permanent home is at https://ultramookie.com where i should be writing more blog posts and movie reviews.
Midweek easy run with pup. Into week three of this training block and feeling good. Long run last week had 1000m of elevation and my legs felt great after - the magic of keeping max HR under 70%!!! Love it! A little over seven weeks until 80km! I am appreciative of the time spend on base over the winter!
Pup is a little over 18 months now! Enjoying all the adventures with her!
Yoga practice 1156, a little strength and stability, and a lot of hip mobility. Good stuff!
Apparently, you’re not supposed to help the kids in your neighborhood find eggs, even if it is the end of your #run and some carbs would be really useful.
Did a nice 5k walk/run. Even braved some hills I usually avoid.
In anticipation of a longer #run tomorrow, today’s was shorter at 4.75 miles. Feel good about the time despite tired legs! Happy Friday! #Running#RunnersOfMastodon
Today I attempted my first 5K #run since I developed asthma, and since that stupid SI joint incident I had pretty much exactly a year ago.
And I can't believe it, but I completed it in full, with no walking breaks!! 🥳🎉
I didn't think I could do it, so I'm def still in shock. I had been following along with a 5K #GarminCoach training plan, but it only had me do 3.2K (2mi) runs as the longest distance -- anyways, they clearly know something I don't, because after 3.5k it actually felt really good!?
I even improved on my pre-asthma PB by 2 mins, so I'm just really happy right now! 😭 CELEBRATE WITH ME 🥳
My plan is to sign up for another 5K Coach program in a week or so, one that has a target pace slightly faster than today (so... still slow, but less so 😂), and I'm signed up for two 5K races for the summer. We'll see how it goes! 👟
Also, thanks #Garmin for your secret sauce, and also to modern medicine for allowing me to breathe normally even when exercising!!
This is a route I’ve been meaning to run for some time now. It’s largely “out and back” which I’m not really a fan of, but having driven out to the convent (La Gañanía en La Almoraima) for lunch yesterday, I was struck by how pretty it was.
