#Samsung Engineering Company has begun the design work for a green hydrogen project in Sarawak, Malaysia, in collaboration with Lotte Chemical, KNOC and SEDC. The project aims to produce renewable green hydrogen in #Sarawak for export to #Korea.
Sarawak Metro informed that Stage 2 of the Prototype Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) #Hydrogen Vehicle Proof-of-Concept (#POC) Exercise at Kuching-Samarahan Expressway is officially underway.
A notice was also attached for people to refer to for the traffic flow and flagmen locations throughout the POC period.
The ART will run from 20 November to 15 December, 5am to 8pm.
The test ride on the ART was coordinated by Ministry of Transport Sarawak (#MOTS), Sarawak #Metro Sdn Bhd (#SarawakMetro) & EMG JV Sdn Bhd, the main contractor for System Package 1 of Kuching #Urban Transportation System (#KUTS) Project.
Got pulled up for audience participation at the Sarawak Cultural Village 🫣 Guy had me dance, literally shake my booty, then shoot a dart. I managed to hit a distant balloon on my first try. Video coming soon! Follow: https://instagram.com/keanetravels
When I first moved back to Kuching, I was frustrated by the tourism board’s (and pretty much everyone else’s) insistence to portray this place as all about jungles and loincloths. It’s not. Until I met the organisers of the What About Kuching festival. Proud to say I’ve been part of the organising committee and management of this month-long, community driven Kuching festival since 2017.
Recently, Sarawak Metro had the pleasure of meeting their counterparts in Hong Kong together with senior officers from Sarawakian ministries and agencies.
Sarawak Metro thanked MTR for the opportunity to connect and learn during the visit.
It seemed like they probably discussed about transit-oriented development (TOD), possibly wanting to implement them under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS).
The Sarawak government will order 38 more units of the hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) coaches once the test runs of the prototype vehicle is completed.
The coaches would serve the three lines of phase one of the Kuching Urban Transport System (#KUTS), scheduled to start operations in stages at the end of 2025.
Increasingly, to prevent land grabs, Malaysia’s #indigenous communities are mapping their lands and compiling a “profile” of their communities to stake their rightful claim. This is one of a fun series of videos I stumbled upon recently that explains what all that involves:
Dr Anna Sulan Masing, an Indigenous Iban person from Sarawak now in the UK, hosts an excellent podcast on Whetstone Radio called Taste of Place. She explores colonialism, nostalgia, tribal culture through white pepper, Sarawak’s cash crop.
"Dr Sue Sentance, Director of our Raspberry Pi Computing Education Research Centre at the University of Cambridge, shares what she learned on a recent visit in Malaysia to understand more about the approach taken to computing education in the state of Sarawak."
The #hydrogenpowered ART arrived at Senari Terminal onboard the HF Spirit vessel which berthed at around 8am after a journey of over two weeks from Shanghai Port.
The world’s first #hydrogen powered #autonomous rapid transit (ART) smart #tram is expected to arrive at Senari Port in #Kuching tomorrow (Saturday) from China.
This was confirmed by several sources close to the project, following a post making its rounds on social media.
It is understood that the #vessel carrying the prototype is already in #Sarawak waters, but it will only enter the #port tomorrow.
Four [#native#languages spoken by #tribes in #Sarawak are now #extinct according to the national literary & cultural agency Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.
Sarawak director, Abang Haliman Abang Julai, said that according to #researchers the #Seru , #Pegu , #Bliun & #Lelak languages were now no longer in use.]
I tend to discuss:
🎨 Any #craft or 🧶 #crochet project I'm entangled in
🥋 Goings on at #aikido
🐶 Happenings at #dogtraining that I volunteer at as a trainer
🦊 Lots and lots of #corgi spam
I am a consummate dabbler in creative arts and constant re-inventor of self. A #journalist for 14 years, now a #writer, #editor and pen-for-hire. Have concluded my first TV series!
For fun, I can be found #writing or #narrating on the collaborative storytelling site #Storium, or reading the #tarot. My first novel about grief and ghosts was shortlisted for Fixi Novo's Malaysian Novel Contest.
