I’m proud to be a volunteer admin for A-GAME (Asian American WGA and Pre-WGA writers). Membership is FREE, so we rely on donations to support us! A-GAME connects members with execs and showrunners via Zooms or in-person lunches. We want to foster relationships, which helps AAPI creators tell their stories! Past guests include execs from Amazon, Lionsgate and NBC. Thanks for your support!!

One thing I miss about the old birdsite (before the nazi took over) is what a great filmmaking community I had found there.

Would love to meet some filmmakers and film lovers here! I'm big on showing support to my fellow artists. If you are too then let's connect!

#AQI in my location beginning to deteriorate a tad. I’ve got new filters in my air purifiers in my house and car. Looking at this map makes me feel like I need an all day sucker made from Xanax. Sticking with cannabinoids, though, and breath work plus binging some funny programming. I like #GoodOmens, #SomebodySomewhere, #BennyAndJoon but am sure I’m missing out. What shows and movies make you laugh? #Comedy #LaughterIsMedicine

Feeling super lucky to be where I am right now with dangerous smoke and fires all around me. AQI here is moderate (74) for most but if you’re super sensitive it’s best to stay in and run filters. And maybe watch programs. Lots of love to all the remarkable #screenwriters, they play a critical role in helping us focus on something besides our immediate circumstances. #WildFireSmoke #WestSeattle #PNW #AppleWeather #AQI

Most rules are geared towards -style productions — which makes a lot of sense. And most Hollywood films are between 90 and 120 minutes long, which is the same number for pages of a (one page = one minute). So, are told to write 90 to 120 pages. But I find myself often drawn to much longer films. Currently, I'm rewatching a four hour film for the third time. As one might expect, it's not a Hollywood .

Screenwriters around the world are showing their solidarity with the WGA. June 14th there’s a demonstration already scheduled in London, writers and their supporters are encouraged to join from wherever they are.

:"Outside of the Netflix headquarters in New York City on Wednesday, hundreds of members of the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) marched for a better contract on the second day of the writer's strike. They were there to communicate a clear message: Writers refuse to be replaced by AI.

Signs showcased slogans such as “Writers Generate All of it,” “Don’t Let ChatGPT Write ‘Yellowstone’,” “I Told ChatGPT To Make A Sign and It Sucked,” and “Don’t Uber Writing.” These signs referred to the unprecedented “AI” category in the guild’s proposal in which they asked to regulate the use of AI on union projects but were met with refusal from studios. Writers are seeking pay for episodes on streaming platforms, and to not have their work devalued and turned into gig labor due to the use of text-generating AI programs to write dialog."

Wouldn’t it be something if the studios say, fine, #WGA, strike all you want, we don’t need you anymore, and then announce that there’s been a GPT-like AI system in the works for a while that cranks out Hollywood screenplays by the second. Given how formulaic Hollywood is, I’m surprised they haven’t gone this route already.

Who here has dealt with destructive feedback? How did you cope and get yourself back into a good headspace?

I'm thankful that, over the year, I've encountered mostly actionable feedbacks. Some notes might be worded in a harsher tone, but still highlight a path toward improvement.

Notes should never lead to tearing down a writer or how they approach their individual process, and if you ever encounter that, walk away and find a better group.
