I give myself a 25-30% chance of seeing at this year. The last time I saw them was 2017.

The #Sphere truly must be seen in-person to be believed. It is absolutely mind blowing.

#U2 are in top form, Adam Clayton in particular shines thanks to the powerful sound system in this space.

Without touching a single piece of land, it's possible to sail from Alaska to India in a completely straight line.

More precisely, along a geodesic, or a curve that constitutes the shortest path (arc) between two points on a surface, like a spheroid.

Uproxx's Steven Hyden saw U2 perform at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Friday. Here's what he thought of the experience. "The Sphere is overpowering and ridiculous, technologically advanced and rooted in an old-time 'more is more' show-business sensibility, and supported by some of the industry’s most powerful players even though it’s possibly unsustainable. Put another way: The Sphere is U2," he says.

Self portrait (shadow and wall, 2023)

This captures a moment just before I learnt something important.

I learnt that a 360 camera is NOT a good choice for capturing the glorious sight of a rainbow at sea. It's there, if you look really closely, but.... aye...

Nice planet sphere though, and an excellent foghorn.

Passed through a walled garden on our walk today. I am very taken by its symmetry, and the resulting garden planet sphere.

Flowers and bees to follow once I've sorted through the photos.

On our recent travels we visited a lighthouse. I LOVE lighthouses. They're always in these amazing spots, and the buildings sit so pleasingly in the landscape. And they help stop boats crashing into rocks too, obvs.

I sit on the walls, look out to sea, and imagine what it would be like to be a lighthouse keeper.

I might not have it quite right.

#lighthouse #photography #animation #loop #silly #drawing #SillyScribbles

It is dusk. We are looking directly down some white walled steps to a lighthouse, which is switching on and off in a loop. The sea moves gently, and the darkening sky is stripes with grey clouds. On the wall sits a simple drawn character holding a small panel with a big red button on it. They press the button to turn on the light. I'm not 100% sure that's how lighthouses actually work, but the thought of it tickled me.

A wee planet sphere of St Ives featuring the lighthouse on Smeaton's Pier and the harbour beach.

It is a nice place, and doesn't usually have quite so many people just standing and staring at you.

Been sorting through & playing with 360 photos again (only 2 folders left to sort, down from around 15 - woo hoo!) and this wee person appeared in one of the Wallace Monument shots.

I mean, look - big tree hair, stylish stone outfit - it's not just a face this time, it's a whole person!

I might need a quiet lie down.
