Headology:

“That’s right,” said Granny. “It’s called headology.” She tapped her silver hair, which was drawn into a tight bun that could crack rocks.

But here’s some advice, boy. Don’t put your trust in revolutions. They always come around again. That’s why they’re called revolutions.

One gets the feeling, with , that the real sticking point was that "the company would not promise not to do it again", but if they'd apologised and made that promise. Well, Terry would have probably quietly admired their chutzpah. The adverts would have had to stop, been apologised for, but he'd have probably let them keep the licence to print the books. Or maybe not. You never could tell with Terry.

The members of the Guild of Assassins considered themselves cultured men who enjoyed good music and food and literature. And they knew the value of human life. To a penny, in many cases.

Ok, inspired by @rincewind.run and @ursulav over on bsky (I don't know Micah's handle here?), here are 10 US Kindle copies of Terry Pratchett's REAPER MAN. Which I have, and have read, and love. As always with pterry, I'm going to babble a bit, because the world is so much worse for his loss.

pterry was a genius. He understood humanity, deeply and thoroughly. And he could convey that in writing. That's double-genius, or at least 1.5.

Attention Christchurch lovers of theatre and Discworld! I'm in this play from 15 to 25 May: https://www.repertory.nz/show/mort/

It's coming together nicely. Some great performances. We're at the point now where I have a rehearsal just about every night until opening, despite all my other commitments, so please come and reward my perseverance!

There was a time, when I dearly loved and , and they will always have a sweet spot in my heart for the many laughs and for all the cultural heritage, they left us.

However: Whenever I now grab one of their , their style and language feels terribly outdated and, frankly, boring to me.

Unpopular opinion, or do you agree?

"Most species do their own evolving, making it up as they go along, which is the way Nature intended. And this is all very natural and organic and in tune with mysterious cycles of the cosmos, which believes that there's nothing like millions of years of really frustrating trial and error to give a species moral fiber and, in some cases, backbone."

'I didn’t have white hair in those days,’ said Granny.
‘Everything was a different colour in those days.’
    ‘That’s true.’
‘It didn’t rain so much in the summer time.’
    ‘The sunsets were redder.’
‘There were more old people. The world was full of them,’ said the wizard.
‘Yes, I know. And now it’s full of young people. Funny, really. I mean, you’d expect it to be the other way round.' — Equal Rites
