Really cool Fango piece on the differences between The Thing film and the book it was based on. Some wild differences, and some good history on the movie. This was a great read.

On this day in 1982, in the summer of E.T. and simultaneously with Blade Runner, Universal Pictures released John Carpenter's bleak, brilliant The Thing, a commercial failure that eventually became revered as Hollywood's greatest modern monster movie.
