This is part of the nature of . Trumpism claims to be capitalist, but that's really only part of its faux traditionalism. However trumpism rejects enlightenment ideas like democracy and the rule of law, and so rejecting actual capitalism is just a piece with this. I've written more here:

Kyle Rittenhouse's former spokesman turns on him

David Hancock offered evidence that Rittenhouse not only failed the standard tests for entry into military service, but was permanently banned from applying to the Marines.

"Kyle failed to learn a single thing. He remains the same uneducated, arrogant, and antagonistic individual, incapable of telling the truth."

I worry a lot about the persistence of Christian Fascism in the US. There's been some coverage of the scholarship on white Christian Nationalism in the mainstream press, but Evangelical support for Trump is rarely framed as a form of American Fascism. That's a problem. /1

@brooklynsoc Yes, yes, yes and yes. And it is having knock-on effects in conservative evangelicalism around the world. Or perhaps better: there is an international ecosystem of (esp white) conservative evangelicalism in which there's an increasingly open embrace of unashamed . Only in some places has it reached such an advanced stage as in the US (e.g. evangelical support for the fascist in ), but the open embrace of by white evangelicals in the US is not an isolated phenomenon.

For instance, , 's PM from 2018–2022, was elected with strong support from white evangelicals (and identifies as such, which has been very unusual in ). Morrison recently published his memoirs with a foreword by . While they were both in office, Morrison never criticised Trump, and displayed a number of similar political leanings (albeit somewhat more constrained by Australia's Westminster parliamentary system). In recent years, many White conservative evangelical leaders in Australia have increasingly focused their public agenda on a similar constellation of issues as their US counterparts. This is more pronounced than it used to be.

Beau Biden died of brain cancer in May 2015.

Poleaxed by grief, his father chose not to seek the Democratic nomination in 2016

But, four years later, appalled by Donald Trump’s authoritarianism and especially by the racist violence in Charlottesville, he decided that the best way of honouring his son was to enter the subsequent race.

Fun Fact: When Hitler came into power democratically it took him like 3 months to dismantle democracy completely and there were no new elections for 17 years. He came into power after earlier starting an insurrection. State institutions and government failed to ban him from future elections — @thomasfuchs

Terrorists Don’t Deserve Bipartisanship. For months I’ve been hearing about pursuing a bipartisan America; about this nation needing to forge a new spirit of political collaboration if we ever hope to bridge the massive divides here... I don’t care about bipartisanship, I care about protecting humanity. If the fight for that humanity places me on one side of a partisan political line, that likely points to the inhumanity on the other side of it. I will not partner with terrorism and I refuse to make peace with white supremacy and I will not cooperate with fascists. I’m not apologizing for that and neither should the rest of us — John Pavlovitz

There are no false equivalencies to be made here at this place and time in the history of this nation. This abomination of a political party is now nothing more than a death cult whose sole platform is appeasing, pleasing, and defending a wannabe despot. To elevate them to something worthy of partnership is political treason and theological heresy. To entertain conspiracy or abide terrorism or enable bigotry in the name of some ceremonial both sides-ism makes a mockery of the costly battles so many vulnerable communities have fought before us, in order to make this a place where blind nationalism does not rule the day and where a minority of extremists cannot have their way — John Pavlovitz
