Never give up!
Belted kingfisher is the kind of bird that will leave its perch as soon as you try to photograph it. This lucky shot was taken this week. Never give up.

We can observe two different ecotypes of orcas in the Salish Sea: the transient and the resident orcas. The transient orcas travel between California and Alaska while the resident orcas live in the Salish Sea and are listed as endangered.
A few weeks ago, I noticed this varied thrush outside my window. I grabed my camera and rushed downstairs. I have been trying to get decent photos of this bird for years. Not yet the type of photos I'm looking for but the ''best'' one so far.
Notice how green the grass is in early January on Vancouver Island 😛
I appreciate squirrels because they make that cute noise when they eat seeds and because they stole all the light bulbs from my neighbour’s backyard. 😁 💡
I photographed this red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) during a storm on the West coast of #VancouverIsland#BritishColumbia. I posted photos of that storm back in September. We had strong winds, huge waves and lots of rain. This squirrel had found shelter in a big tree and had a snack.
A Cooper's hawk showing off its beautiful plumage during my private photo tour with two visitors from France this week. It was fun to spend time with very friendly and enthousiastic French photographers. We saw a big variety of bird species from bald eagles to snow geese.
