This is a #watercolor painting I did a few months ago but hadn't share, until we bought a scanner here in #Greece. It arrived today, I scanned the painting under #Debian#Linux without any issues (or additional drivers), and I fixed the colors with #Gimp. It's the first time I use The Gimp for my paintings (I've used The Gimp on and off since its inception, but not for my artworks). I've been using #Photoshop instead for my collages and paintings, but I stopped my #Adobe subscription a few months ago. It's all #Foss now.
I am doing more stonework in the garden, getting ready for the big show in June. About 6 or 7 years ago I made this bed and I used these logs (leftovers from a sculpture project) as edging g because i couldn't afford the stone at the time. Well they're rotting away now. Last weekend I did the corner in the foreground. Today I need to replace the long logs on the left of the photo.

So I pulled out the logs to replace them with ledge stone. Eventually I might do a nurse log garden with some ferns and some red huckleberry planted on it (the underside is very spongy) but I won't have time for that before the show. So for now they're going in the chicken yard. Daisy here, the matriarch of our flock, has already claimed this one for her own. I might not get it back.

Stonework thread part 3: here's a photo of the mostly-complete edging wall that replaced the logs. It looks a lot more unified and finished. Not bad for an afternoon's work. To see my previous stone project from last week, click here: https://mstdn.social/@eugeneparnell/112035452418065864
I love Sandra Boynton’s books and when I read this one, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to include the chickens ! Eek ! Halloween ! is silly and playful and describes what is happening during Halloween Season from the chickens ‘point of view.
In perfect harmony. The neighbors' chickens - who love spending time here - with the wild turkeys - who love spending time here - side by side with nary a kerfluffle.
Some watercolors of mine in a children's book illustration style. I have been dreaming of writing and illustrating a children's book (I had a good idea of teaching kids about timezones), but then AI art arrived and it killed that whole market segment.
Black bear tracks in our driveway, near the chickens. 5 x 5.5” wide. Front foot tracks are short, back are long. I think he was swimming in our creek, munching blackberries, and then content to head up the hill. Otherwise the chickens would have been ravaged. #nature#backyardchickens#permaculture#bears
Happy bantams in the new run. Children thrilled to get some cuddles at last!
The round, speckled millefleur pekin is Gloria. She’s laid-back and chill. The pure brown hen is Ness, a buff pekin, very shy with a sweet disposition. The black pekin is Liam, also a hen but named by my son. Bold and friendly. The two together are Lily, a lavender pekin, and Tilly, a partridge silkie. Lily is shy and quiet, Tilly is a bossy boots and constantly demands food!
