Moving up in the crypto world ... from gpu miner only I have joined big boys today and bought my first Bitcoin ASIC - Bitmain Antmniner S19K Pro - 120 TH ... I still believe in GPU mining in the next bullrun, so I will continue doing so ... I feel good today ... 😎 😀
Sure, we will still probably have some corrections before reaching 100,000 USD, but still, this is one of those days I would give 1 million Satoshi to see the face of Peter Schiff and other Bitcoin haters ...
hello, man of the new millennium, 21st century. Have you been able to realize yourself? was it able to achieve what the 19th-century science fiction #writers wrote? Look at yourself, man. You live in a house that is not your (a mortgage), drive a car that does not belong to you (debt), you get #money that depreciates before you buy anything, you have finished your studies but still haven't paid 40,000 tuition fees and most likely won't pay in the next 5 years. You can't afford to live the way you want and your home is no longer your fortress. You're alone. You don't belong to yourself.
It saddens me that the people/developers over on #Nostr have decided to intertwine the fate of their #socialmedia protocol with that of #bitcoin and other #crypto currencies. One day, bitcoin will be banned almost everywhere, including in the US, and its downfall will lead to the fall of Nostr as well. How can they not see thru bitcoin's ponziness?
I've been thinking a lot lately about #ActivityPub. Mostly because I love #federation, but also because I'm a geek and love #crypto(graphy).
I wonder how hard it would be to build a super simple #Mastodon-like but fully encrypted setup. Interoperable of course, but with e2e encryption of messages.
Given the existing public key support ... I have a model that works in my head. Just need time to write it up. (Might pave the way for encrypted DMs, too ...)
@Tutanota There are both pros and cons of allowing E2EE messaging. One of the downsides is that #crypto scammers usually use these services, without being traced, to lure victims into investing in fake platforms, resulting in financial damages.
:ubuntu: Ubuntu / Mark Shuttleworth taking a stance on crypto apps 📏
"I see our mission as trying to improve the safety of Linux for its users.
Other Linux app distribution mechanisms (PPAs, Github builds, OBS, or even the containerised ones like Flatpak) don’t have nearly the same technical measures for confinement that Snaps do.
If we ban cryptocurrency apps from the Snap Store then those users will simply get apps from those unconfined sources".
The province of #NewBrunswick is home to the largest oil refinery in #canada. It uses a LOT of electricity -- so much that in order to avoid grid strain and save $$, they built their own 88MW LNG-burning power plant.
We are also home to two "small" #cryptomines which combined consume 96MW of electricity.
The rapid expansion of #oilAndGas, #LNG, #crypto, and #dataCenters threaten to destabilise grids world-wide. This is a big problem, and communities need to do more to STOP these projects cold!
NB government despite their track record of sadistic ineptitud, banned our power utility from servicing any future crypto mines.
