What kind of trend is it where Fediverse admins make life difficult for each other? Why can't we just work together to make the Fediverse better? Why do instances often attack each other? I don't understand... or maybe I'm just too old for this shit.
@deavmi@mark22k server wide blocklists is the source for #fedidrama. We provide users with the tools to make decisions for them, yet decide for them. That's why small communities and single uses instances are much better. You have all the control.
You're happy to migrate to this host, we are blocked on a few hosts but not many. Most famously blocked by mastodon.art for made up ever changing reasons
In case you missed it, Mastodon and the Fediverse have groups, which are really useful for discovering conversations on specific topics. They work equally well on all servers.
It’s the output of a Pleroma CLI command to check your server logs for troubleshooting. It shows that these lemmy instances have blocked the instance I’m running - not cribbing/whining as I’m done with that phase of #Fedidrama.
“Hi! I’m a moderator on instance X. The other day, a moderator on instance Y didn’t moderate someone exactly the way I would have done here, so I did the sensible thing and suspended their entire instance forever. You’re welcome.”
If you know artists using Mastodon.art you should probably tell them to move shop, the instance has blocked huge amounts of the fediverse, and has been blocked in turn by lots of individual uses too due to being the source of pretty much 100% of all #Fedidrama
Getting into the details isn't worth it just, don't be there.
I wonder if the increasing #fediblock drama nowadays is a signal that #blocklists has reached its peak utility as a #safety tool (for average users) and the more instances added to a centralised shared blocklist will eventually lead to #fedidrama over false-positives or even smear campaign which make #fediverse toxic, and becoming unhealhty for its users
I think this is the time for people who are maintaining ANY shared blocklist to grow a pair and make shared #whitelists instead
It’s amazing (and probably only with strong moderation and ninja-like blocking skills) that most people stick around on the Fediverse. Actually, probably, most people don’t.

I'm obsessed with a world without central governments (see this story https://brittlepaper.com/2020/10/yat-madit-by-dilman-dila-afrofuturism-anthology/ ) decentralised governance powered by good algorithm, and modelled on a precolonial system of the Acholi people (nothern Uganda/southern South Sudan). When I discovered the fediverse, I re-built this world to get rid of algorithm, and every village becomes a kind of server/instance, a country of its own within the federation.
So with all this #fedidrama yo, I'm mining new material for my world😭😁
I just started to back @Tusky - my longstanding main Fediverse driver for Android - on @opencollective. Thanks to the ongoing #fedidrama which made me aware that the project has been receiving far too little money in the past. #tusky
I am stepping back from the #Tusky project with immediate effect.
I discovered severe lapses in how the Tusky project's donations (received via #OpenCollective) were being handled. When I reported those to the project's private "Tusky Contributors" Matrix channel the financial admins tone policed the feedback, refused to engage with the concerns I and others raised, and demanded the discussion be stopped.
I'm usually a few days behind on social media generally and #fedidrama in particular, so I've only just discovered that #fosstodon have quite publicly enforced their English-language-only policy and updated their code of conduct to allow for policing their users' behaviour on other instances.
Looks like I'm moving to aus.social as my primary instance now. Good thing I've been making regular backups of my bookmarks and follow lists on both instances, 'just in case'. As a bonus, I'm cancelling my small regular donation to Fosstodon and rolling it into my support for aus.social.
En ces temps de #FédiDrama je pense qu'il est essentiel de redonner du sens
Je viens de tester pour vous, figurez-vous qu'il est possible de boire de l'eau pendant qu'on fait pipi
