A drunk 52yo dude at an izakaya in Kobe grabbed a pair of scissors & attacked a 42yo woman when she kindly asked if he ought to go home. Sadly for him, the woman’s a judo black belt & held him in a lock until police came. The attacker claims he “doesn’t remember” the incident.

A number of Russian judo athletes with military ties are seeking to compete at the European #Judo Championships in France next month as “neutral” athletes, despite International Olympic Committee (#IOC) guidance that active military members should not participate in international sports events.
"The Ukrainian national team will not participate in the Youth World Judo Championship in Portugal due to the inclusion of Russian athletes in the tournament under neutral status.
According to Mykhailo Koshlyak, the president of the Judo Federation of Ukraine, one of the Russian participants allowed into the competition is an active-duty military serviceman."

I've been thinking I would like to get back into practicing martial arts and would love to maybe host an informal group so I have people to practice and learn with! I practiced Taekwondo and Judo for over a decade, once upon a time, and used to teach back in my early 20s....but I am really out of practice and out of shape, so I need folks I can feel comfortable exercising and learning with.
I have a space in my garage and could easily get some mats and a punching bag. I would host and teach for free, and would be happy to adapt what we do to anybody's accessibility or disability needs. Not a sure thing yet, but would there be anyone interested in these parts?

Posting a WIP in some kind of vain attempt at forcing myself to actually finish something. Trying out some combat animation for a change of scenery. Very roughly blocked gimbal-fest atm. Might add a few poses at the start and I'd like the attackee to look more resistant rather than so ragdoll-y. LOT of clean up required, but enjoying it so far.
Got my combat anim all cleaned up. Few scruffy bits, but i'm gonna move on and try a few more. Enjoyed working on it- something different to what i'm used to, so it was a nice change of pace.

The championship is scheduled to start on May 7, and a list of russian judokas, many of whom are military personnel and hold officer ranks, appeared on the International Judo Federation’s website on the last day of registration.
