Kudos to HP for joining #LVFS!

  1. is so inefficient and you can't customize anything! Let's install !
  2. Spend half a day customizing KDE Plasma.

OK, I hate to say it, as much as I love Plasma, but my first impressions of KDE Plasma 6 is quite disappointing. Do you know how supermarkets rearrange everything once in a while and you can't find shit because nothing is where it's supposed to be and you're just pissed because you see zero benefits except a giant waste of your time. That's how I feel. I spend half an hour searching for one of my favorite features ...

4/ Still I don't mean to sound ungrateful, KDE Plasma is an amazing project which can do things Windows users can't even dream of, and it's completely free, and I'm sure a lot of people put incredible effort, dedication and love to the project. That's why I support it financially and will continue to do so ...

Where does / store its configurations? here.
I have a PWA or "shortcut open as desktop" that opens to the wrong URL. The behavior of the app makes that hard to configure using the UI (it automatically redirects); I want to hand-edit a file.

How do I find that file?

A few years ago I decided that instead of talking about the range of options available to regular users who wanted to try #Linux I would just tell them about #LinuxMint.

It is not that I am convinced Mint is the absolute best but rather that I discovered that the abundance of choice is disorienting and that if the person made the switch I would be more able to guide them through any problems if they were using the same #distro as me.

As the end of the year draws near, I thought it would be interesting to look at the current state of the desktop: 2023 has been very eventful, a lot of progress was made, but is the Linux desktop out of its « messy / transition phase » ?

We’ll look at standards and cohesiveness, display stuff, the Wayland transition, packaging and distribution, gaming, drivers, and a coming challenge:

cslinuxboy,

@thelinuxEXP I'd say that the Linux desktop is probably the best desktop out there to-date given all of the telemetry spying going on in Windows, and the "no you can't do that but pay me tons of $$$" from Apple. The only problem with the Linux desktop is the myriad of choices (from a new user perspective). Just my $0.02. Love the content you produce.

Would also be easier to keep them up-to-date. And, no more files and folders scattered all over my home folder. 😅️
