Litigation is a huge issue in the #US. Penalties often are astronomical seen from an international perspective. Also, malfeasance by police officers including #RacialProfiling and l, IMO, #PredictivePolicing seem to be much more frequent, maybe just more reported.

Die #Polizei fährt gerade mal wieder enorm was am Stühlinger Kirchplatz in #Freiburg auf. In der Vergangenheit hat sie später meist ein paar Gramm Gras präsentiert. Wir sind gespannt, was uns jetzt als Ermittlungserfolg präsentiert wird. In der Vergangenheit waren diese Aktionen meist mit #RacialProfiling verbunden.
#Germany has part decriminalised #cannabis - but I've still not seen any plans on how they reconcile this with their love of #cars and #motoring and acceptable limit for #driving in blood being even less than that in the UK! "#AmnestyInternational alleged in a 2009 report that during Operation Cast Lead, the IDF targeted civilians, carried out 'indiscriminate attacks that failed to distinguish between legitimate military targets and civilian objects', and used munitions containing white #phosphorus, the use of which against civilians is a violation of international law, according to the World Health Organization.
"Another document in the trove is a longer 2011 report assessing 'terrorism from the #Gaza Strip since Operation Cast Lead' produced by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (#ITIC). The ITIC is an Israeli research group whose founding director and current director were previously IDF intelligence officers. The thinktank reportedly maintains an office at the Israeli defense ministry.
"None of these documents mention narcotics trafficking or criminal activity in the US. LA Clear’s archive and the BlueLeaks trove do not appear to contain any alternative accounts of the Israel-Palestine conflict.
"The Guardian contacted LA Clear for comment through the body’s website but received no response.
"Elsewhere in the BlueLeaks trove, there is ample evidence of a close relationship between law enforcement agencies and US-based pro-Israel organizations.
"The archive shows how close the relationship is between a range of law enforcement agencies and the pro-Israel civil rights non-profit the Anti-Defamation League (ADL)."
Belgian #police just forced a brown person in the seat in front of me off the #ICE#Brussels-#Cologne because he didn't bring his #ID card. I think ID is required for crossing borders within #Schengen but it's incredibly depressing that, as so often, they picked a non-white citizen for controls.
Interestingly, they also checked the white person in the adjacent seat but only for the train ticket, not the ID.
In response to the recent incident of police violence against a young person of color in Seaside, the community will be marching to this week's City Council meeting demanding an end to police violence and the defunding of the Seaside police department, as well as a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, where young people also face unrelenting state violence. Anything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. When American patience for #RacialProfiling in traffic stops reached a breaking point, cops rolled out dashcams. Dashcam footage went AWOL, or just recorded lots of racist, pretextual stops. Racial profiling continued.

Das 40,00€ teurer gewordene Nachfolgeticket zum 9-Euro-Ticket soll Daten melken. Zwar solle das Ticket übergangsweise nicht nur für Smartphones erhältlich sein sondern auch auf Chip-Karten und kurzzeitig auf Papier mit QR-Code, aber wichtig scheint es den Regierenden vor allem anderen, dass mit dem 49€-Ticket Echtzeit-Verkehrsdaten erhoben werden können.
Positiv klingt zunächst: "Es werde nicht gespeichert, wer von A nach B fährt, sondern nur, wie stark die Verkehrsmittel ausgelastet sind. Für die Fahrgäste könnte das ein Nutzen sein, weil die Verkehrsunternehmen so für ausreichend Kapazitäten sorgen könnten."
Allerdings: Das Ticket wird wohl nur als Abo personalisiert erworben werden können, so dass darüber anfallende Personendaten zukünftig schnell integriert werden könnten. Mit Hinblick auf den aktuellen massiven Ausbau des Überwachungsstaats und der Kontrollgesellschaft in Deutschland und der EU (digitale Personenkennziffer/RegMod, Chatkontrolle, Identifizierungspflicht, Biometrie, eIDAS uvm) ist es doch auch gar nicht die Frage ob, sondern nur wann und mit welchem Vorwand (Anschläge, Pandemie, Jugendschutz, Wahlkampf) personalisierte Datenerfassung und Polizeizugriffe kommen werden, sobald die digitale Kontrollinfrastruktur erst einmal errichtet wurde.
