Bought the device a few days ago. Bevy engine supports it natively since it's just a regular x86 with GNU/Linux.
The game runs great. I get stable 90 FPS (90Hz is the refresh rate of the device) consuming only 13.1 W. The UI is a little big and controls aren't adapted well for gamepads, but I will fix it later.
The console itself is also a nice machine for development. More details about my setup in 🧵.
The awesome Junk Store #SteamDeck plugin, which was made to easily access Epic Games directly in your Game Mode library, is now testing GOG support, and it is fantastic so far!
Windows users will be vulnerable to any of their sensitive data being stolen by malware since Recall stores everything in an unsecured database. What do you do if you're a gamer fed up with Windows, but you're not ready to format your whole PC over to Linux?
One option is to get a Steam Deck. It's a portable gaming system, but connect it to a dock or dongle and it's also a full featured desktop PC.
For the first time in EONS, finally found a game that is holding my attention. Helldivers 2, Bazzite, Framework Laptop 16. Flawless. It runs stupidly well. The dGPU is picked up automatically, I do nothing.
Even with GPU recorder (flatpak) to do some capturing, runs like it's native.
Full screen, no windowed mode, no command launcher tweaks. Install and run with proton on Steam. There goes my weekend. 😅😎
Two external displays attached. Playing on one of them. Built in display not used.
Game is glitchy as hell, which can be super frustrating when you're dropped from a 30 minute mission. It is very much a Starship Troopers knockoff that they just didn't want to pay the IP for. But it's also an absolute riot and a visual marvel.
I created a #python script to generate a custom #emulationstation collection of all 5-star #retrogaming games present on #steamdeck. this is a great way to have the best games easily at hand, especially when using large collections.
