“Contentment” doesn’t drive “consumerism.”
“Discontentment” drives profits.
You have to be told about your discontentment via “advertising.”
You have to be reminded and told about your lacking so you keep wanting.
You have to keep the other guy down so he doesn’t “take” what’s yours when you’ve both been lied to.
You will bash a guy’s head in because you deserve whatever manufactured 1 of bazillion trinket you’ve been conditioned to want. #theylive consumerism = atrocities

Did a recent rewatch of this recently and it holds up. Disturbingly accurate as to what's still going on in the world today (and maybe has always and will always go on in the world, with corruption, greed, etc.)
