Fiber artists of the Fedi! I'm looking for some yarn.

Lace or fingering
White/undyed
Silk + merino/BFL (maybe another fiber, silk is a for sure tho)

NOT looking for budget options (pls no Knit Picks recs). I am looking for a lux yarn to create essentially a heirloom piece.

Something that would hold up to dyeing if I decide to go with a color in the future would be good.

I think I found one!

I really want to love this more than I am as it works up.

I'm really hoping like, more progress and blocking works miracles.

It's the same yarn as the pattern, but idk, it looks SO messy and blaaaah to me. Maybe I'm just too close to it. And maybe the yarn will really look great after blocking.

Hoping it will be nice to wear this autumn.

Really, really, really still trying to find My People here on Mastodon. Am I on the wrong server or something? I'm a self-employed #artist / #maker / #writer ... I make #ceramics ( #pottery )... dye #yarn ... #knit ... read #sciencefiction ... have two #dogs and eleven #cats ... am a recent #widow who loves to talk about what a wild ride #grief is ... and I'm a #Floridian scared shitless for my #BiPOC and #lgbtqia friends and family. Is that enough tags? Hello? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Hey there fediverse. I found this thing in with my mom's sewing stuff. There's only one, it has a slit in the end with the circle. Any idea what it is? A bobbin? Floss spool? shuttle?

Holy f*@k - I did a Thing!
I inherited a part ball of variegated yarn - which I dislike using because I feel it's disorganized, chaotic and messy looking. But I've seen this thing done online and decided to spend a day screwing around and tried it. It bloody worked. (Eventually) I'm amazed. A combination of programming and sorcery.

A small panel of crochet made with green, yellow and white variegated yarn, but it is organized into an argyle pattern. The technique is called colour pooling.

Plying yarn: pull up a length of tripled singles. Treadle twelve times. Let the new yarn wind onto the bobbin.

Repeat one thousand times.

Baby knitting experts, I need your advice!

A friend of mine is pregnant, and asked if I could possibly do a new version of this old doll someone made for her when she was a baby.

Absolutely, happy to!

Except I have no idea what kind of yarn is both baby-friendly and also will last for 40 years like this one has.

I can probably make up a pattern, but if anyone knows one similar so I don't have to that would also be amazing.

Pointers very welcome, thank you all!

Looking for recommendations for a daily yarn crafting project for Dec! Like an advent calendar, but I’d love either one project with daily steps, or 12 or 24 tiny projects that could each be done in an hour or two. A kit I would be nice, but instructions (free or paid download) where I buy the materials separately would also be great! Any ideas out there?

My cunning plan to cast on a new pair of socks last night ran into a bit of trouble.

Still, luckily I don't mind a spot of untangling and if anything, finagling this will reduce my stress levels a bit tonight.

Plus then I get to look forward to actually casting on, yay! 😅

Y'all... YALL. This yarn is INCREDIBLE.

It is SO luxe feeling, exactly what I wanted.

British SW Bluefaced Leicester/ Silk

Going to be perfect. After my son's surgery when I can take the risk of going out again I'm gonna go to a bead shop and find the perfect beads for it.

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rubina-lace-shawl This is what it's destined to be. I did a bunch of maths and a test knit to convert the yarn weight AND to make it longer w/o going too wide.

I couldn't resist this "Progress Pride" colour from Knitted Wit -- I'm hoping I get some pooling but even if it ends up in chaos at least the socks will be colourful! 🏳️‍🌈

Halfway through one project is the perfect time to plan your next project, right?

I think for my next sweater I want to use a tweed yarn and do a pattern with lots of texture and cables.

The Mahakam sweater by Rachel Brockman is gorgeous and exactly what I was looking for. And I think it will pair nicely with the Vineyard color way from Wool of the Andes

The squish factor on this yarn is SO HIGH.

It's 100% merino, hand dyed by Cesium yarn in their Est 1973 colorway. They also have an anti-fat tax (you pay less for more skeins) which is fantastical.

Feels good to have a new project on the needles. Any time I get to bust out my CG Forte needles it's a good day!

Afternoon Twters! Another cold one, I hope you're keeping warm.

Waiting on some arriving later so I can get stuck in to doing some more (hand warmers, in soft pink velvet colour, for my daughter who got a matching snood for Christmas). At the moment she has borrowed mine, and I'm well in the mood to get those back as soon as I can!

Bolognese later, after a bit of a blitz in the kitchen.

Hope you're all well, and having a lovely Thursday. 🙂

OK, I should really change all my projects that use / to use . If you barely use Node then it's probably not worth it, but for a webdev it now seems like a no-brainer.

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭

This week has been about 143% of what a week should be (conservative estimate). Whenever I got frustrated today, I comforted myself with the fact that yarn was slated to arrive in my absence. Too many people? New yarn. Driving far too long? Hope it is soft. Exhaustion? A lovely purple. Kids being an absolute nightmare? Motherfucking yarn 🧶

Arrived home. Opened mailbox. There was not one, but two packages!

Neither of them are yarn.

Hey @astro, I tried running a brand new Astro project with but there seems to be an issue when installing the dependencies?

When running "npm run dev" it cannot find the "astro" command. When installing it with everything works fine and as expected (no error during dependency install). 🤷‍♂️

Screenshot of text prompts during the installation process of Astro with yarn. No errors, everything going smooth!

I just ordered another lot of chunky yarn in my favourite colour: black 🖤 🖤 🖤 Although I love to wear this colour, it is very hard to knit or crochet with, so if I make a black item, I tend to work during the day. I'm making a chunky knit cardigan.
