Ok, I’ve got a weird question to . The hardwood floors in our main living area needed to be refinished five years ago and we only moved in two years ago. We know they need to be completely refinished, but that’s not happening this year. What can I use to clean and protect my well-used floor? A few areas that had previous rugs are still slippery with polyurethane, all of the pathways have all the finish completely worn away, and the rest of the floor is in-between but definitely past its prime. It’s nice to walk on, but a dust mop snags often.
I feel like the answer is going to be an old brand of soap or some kind of citrus oil, but internet searches have turned to such shit.

@mikey @donkeyherder I have used feed-n-wax on our hardwoods, in the spots where they have worn a lot, and there really isn’t much of any protection left on the surface. You definitely have to go back and wipe down any excess afterward, but it really helped the areas that were in the worst shape

I am now going to watch Dirty Dancing (1987), for the many-th time.

Sometimes I love it and bawl. Sometimes I get very annoyed with the characters. TBD.

@Cassandra what a classic! I traveled to what was then East Germany in the summer of 1989 and saw this in the theater! I had seen it so many times in English that it didn’t matter that I didn’t speak that much German, I knew it almost by heart!

Old house enthusiasts, I could use your help! Contractor unexpectedly cut out some of the original 1940 tile from our bathroom floor during tile repair. Setting aside the issues with the contractor, I am looking for solutions on how to fill this gap. Are there vendors of floor tile that would fit in here or could be cut to fit in here? how can we get the closest match? Looking for specific recommendations if anyone has them!

please boost!

assemble!

I'm a member of a Friends' Group (library by the cabin) and we want to do embroidered tote bags to sell. Does anyone have any recs for vendors, cost, quality? Any info will help!

Thank you!

@heroineinabook @bookstodon I haven’t looked into embroidered bags, but I will say that I had a not great experience with tote bag factory dot com. Their printed bags had a really bad error rate as far as stray bits of ink and marks on many of the bags that made them unsellable. they decided that they thought those problems were fine and did not issue a refund or replace the bags so I would never order from them

Anneheathen,
@Anneheathen@glammr.us avatar

@heroineinabook @bookstodon it is such a chore! Sourcing manufacturers is one of my least favorite things to do lol

Anneheathen,
@Anneheathen@glammr.us avatar

@heroineinabook @bookstodon I hope you find something good! Here the friends group locally just has those same kind of gross oil based ones that grocery stores often have. I dislike them immensely! But we (the friends) have to sell out of them before we can get different ones

it had looked like we might not be visiting with family at all due to our insistence on wearing masks and other family members' refusal to do so, but guess what? Everyoneagreed to wear a mask and it was totally fine! I’m really happy that certain family members were willing to do the literal least so that we could see each other. Hopefully this helps them feel more comfortable masking in the future!
