The iPad mini is my go-to travel iPad. I don’t even consider my 12.9” Pro for travel anymore.

I’ve drilled a hole in the case and stuck a MagSafe magnet thingy to the back of the iPad. Now the mini can use a MagSafe PopSocket and a MagSafe tripod mount. It’s glorious. The iPad mini should 100% have MagSafe on the back like the phones do. Charging, battery packs, accessories would all be great on this thing.

The mini paired with a Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad makes a nice little writing setup.

It looks pretty much the same, lists for $30 and has 4.2 star average review with 2,630 ratings.

As I’ve got some downtime away from work, I’m spending a bit of time overhauling my https://obsidian.md setup, and a couple of things come to mind.

  1. How long before they add AI as a feature? These vast PKBs (Personal Knowledge Bases) people have set up for themselves would lend well to asking an AI questions to retrieve information. Not sure how feasible it is given the horsepower needed to run AI locally and the privacy of people’s PKBs.

I’ve used it for a couple of years but I mostly use it as a simple replacement for Spotlight and it’s excellent clipboard history and emoji browser. I feel like I’m missing out on some cool features 👀

  1. I migrated from Substack to Ghost a few years ago and it was pretty seamless.

  2. You don’t need a plugin for newsletters with Ghost, it’s built right in (no AcitivtyPub support though)

@mcc @alcinnz The question, really, is how much they honor this. And don’t forget, I’m not convinced that what’s sucked up under the guise of SEO isn’t also used for training via third parties.

The “modern” web has optimized for hoovering of site information via a structured API (using JSON+LD and schema.org structured data), and that’s a red carpet to clearly describing what a page is, connects to, etc.

When Hurricane Larry made landfall two years ago, it dropped over 100,000 microplastics per sq m of land per day.

Larry had picked up the microplastics at sea, lofted them into the air, and dumped them on Newfoundland. A Newfoundland study notes that Larry happened to pass over the garbage patch of the North Atlantic Gyre, where currents accumulate floating plastic.

For those looking for a BRILLIANT show to watch, I can't recommend Apple TV's "Slow Horses" enough. Each season (third is in progress) is under 10 episodes and the cast and storylines are fantastic.

Gary Oldman chews all kinds of scenery.
