The MAGAts that are so proud of their AR-15’s & think the second amendment right has enabled them to withstand perceived Federal overreach remind me of the Southerners in the beginning of Gone With The Wind, which is a great film for understanding hubris and the belief these folks have of their superiority and lack of humanity.
They think guns will protect them against the Army, but I think that they will more likely be reminded of out how Waco turned out, though not until tens of thousand die in the streets. The only hope I hold is if this next election is decided by an overwhelmingly Democratic majority. Which is why third party candidates are so dangerous

In my opinion you’re right that climate change is of the highest priority, all of these other issues need to be addressed with an eye to how it impacts sustainability because the ultimate outcome of too much carbon in the atmosphere will render all other concerns mute

@olena @RickiTarr Before I retired I had to carry three cell phones, one personal, one from work to talk and one for my laptop to connect to the company computer network. Also a pager, the time being in 2000’s. Not sure way anyone would need a fourth cell

I was horrified.
Yes, I wanted to see evidence too, but you noted these perps were terminated by the UN, so you know it’s a legit story.
What the IDF is doing now doesn’t mitigate the horror of Oct 7 & conflating the one to the other makes me question your ability to see that this conflict is also about Palestinians motives to commit genocide on Israelis.
Without understanding that, you cannot be a voice for justice or peace.

Just as Hamas’ hate has rebounded upon innocents, I believe the actions of these dozen UN employees using resources meant to help Palestinians will end up causing them far more harm. Already many countries have paused financial support to UNRWA due to these fiends. @NoBeerToday your bitterness about the lack of accountability for IDF soldiers seems misplaced, far greater harm that may last generations has been visited upon Palestinians from the actions of these fiends who took part in Oct 7.

No, I’m pretty sure that they engaged with Hamas or else there would have been pushback by now. They’ve really damaged life going forward for Palestinians, because that UN organization was created just for them and this may end that special treatment.

I agree with your view that Ron is not worth listening to, as anyone who witnessed the Bush v Gore or Trump V Clinton debacle can attest. If Biden hasn’t performed well enough to earn your vote, you’re not a progressive, you’re a troll looking to damage Democrats. Biden has done an amazing job but limited by the coalition with which he has to work. If unsatisfied with R’s or D’s, work to enable third party viability with ranked choice voting. That’s the only way to effect change without shooting yourself in the foot

I think it’s safe to say that, had the Nader voters been given a chance to have their second choice count, as in ranked choice voting, Nader would have got a lot more first ballot votes and once eliminated, Gore would have got most of them. Third parties in the present system are a scam on the most idealistic (read as young & dumb) voters and instead of Nader, they got Bush. Instead of Stein, they got tfg, instead of a lefty they got f*cked. Please don’t do it again

@amydiehl Maybe, but I’m an old white guy and when I presented at an ER with back pain in the morning, then again that night, I was sent home with prescriptions that totally missed the mark. The next morning was Monday & my wife contacted our primary care provider who listened to her describe my symptoms and advised I return to the ER and get a spinal fluid tap. I got to the ER, remember them taking me in. A week later I woke up in a hospital bed, being treated for sepsis. Docs get it wrong, especially sepsis, often.
An old joke, maybe you’ve heard it, goes “What do you call somebody who graduates last in their class at medical school?” The answer is, of course, a doctor

It is because tfg is hoping for a jury of his peers. It’s an American panel of 12 citizens so maybe there will be rampant misogyny, callous victim blaming folks incapable of empathy.

Guess I’m feeling a bit pessimistic. I know all the reasons why this is going so slowly, I only hope that it’s because justice requires time to get it right. A jury is a final judgement, at least he is no longer able to dispute the facts in court from the work of the previous one.

That wasn’t Biden’s fault, besides which the IDF doesn’t follow his orders. The actions on Oct 7 were despicable acts that don’t get a pass. It was calculated barbarity upon innocents to terrorize a population.

What a fucking surprise that the Israelis lost their shit & the IDF is bombing Gaza. Who’d a thunk it?

You might feel some empathy for the people suffering on both sides, all of the innocents from babies and children who have no culpability who are on both sides being slaughtered.
