And a great start with the lass from Israel coming out to a song where the chorus is “I don’t care”.

Astonishing.

I really didn't like this Nightcrawlers track at the time, and my attitude hasn't really changed. It's dull, but I get why it was popular.

It’s just been pointed out to me that the reason Apple runs a trade-in programme for older devices is so they can reduce the size of the used market, and has fuck all to do with recycling.

That’s blown my tiny mind.

I was very well aware of Bryan Adams and Bonnie Raitt at this stage, so why don't I remember this track at all?

Whatever the reason, it's not a patch on When You're Gone.

Still catching up on episodes of that I’ve missed, and this episode opens with Sleeper and, well, Louise Wener has once again rendered me insensible.

Sat next to one of those stupid big imported US tanks at a traffic light earlier. Had a fleeting thought that the roof of my Mini was about the same height as its bonnet.

And yeah, it was.

Those things are ridiculous.

Decided to get one of those mechanical keyboards that all the nerds love.

Pretty cool, but I’m not sure how to post my toots with it.

That Stone Roses track is one of the first singles I bought with my own money. Dunno why. Guess I had some cash and I’d heard of them.

I’m not a racist but it really bothers me how Americans pronounce solder as “sodder”.

There’s an L in it, Hank.

Is there something up with the listing that's putting people off?

Many thanks to @dgar for introducing me to The Angels - Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, and the Aussie audience tradition of singing

"NO WAY, GET FUCKED, FUCK OFF"

in answer to the question posed by the title.

In a tiny victory at work, I've been given an old Galaxy Tab for people to use to take competency tests on. Six months ago I was explicitly told that all tests should be taken with pen and paper.

Slightly less victorious; the cable for it is apparently shagged.

Just catching up with last Friday's * episodes, and a couple of points of note:

  • When I heard the opening notes of Clock's version of Axel F, I had a horrible thought that we'd already reached the era of Crazy Frog.

  • They cut off the guitar solo at the end of High & Dry, which made me shout "Fuck off Goodier!"

  • The shift from Radiohead to Faith No More gave me whiplash.

*sorry, internet security aficionados, just borrowing it for a few minutes.

Been reading a thread about Britain’s ‘obesity epidemic’, and it’s amazing how many thin people know how to fix it.

People clamber over themselves to wax lyrical about how we should encourage more exercise (we should), and how fast food joints should be held to account (they should), but the loudest voices never talk about it being a mental health issue.

I’m a fat fuck, I know I should exercise more and eat better. I did that for a year once and lost 30kg. Then I put it all back on again.

Feeling weirdly caught between chill and melancholy this evening.

The couple of days spent helping my MiL weren’t anywhere near as arduous as I feared they’d be, and while the drive up there yesterday was crappy (3 hours for a <2 hour journey), the drive back today was nice.

Drunk a couple of beers, watched some TV, mooched about online.

Bed time now, with a lay in tomorrow, and not a huge amount to do. Looking forward to it.

Oh ffs.

Sonoma 14.1 is now available, so I’ve run the updater on the work Mac. Despite everyone saying “Yeah, you can use the regular updater with Opencore” it NEVER works for me. But still, maybe this time it’ll work.

It did not work.

So now I have to fuck about figuring out why, then inevitably having to repair it with a USB installer.

I wish I’d just listened to my gut.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has made a website that examines political promises and tallies them up with the outcomes (if any).

For example; in a manifesto a party promises to increase nurses' pay by 15%, but when in government fight the union and only end up giving them 3%.

I've been thinking about why working class people vote Tory, despite them never, never making good on their promises, and would like to see the data on what they do actually provide.

How do you encourage people to use a safety system that benefits them if they keep coming up with excuses and reasons why they can't/won't?

As a company, we have a legal duty to require staff to carry out pre-use checks on machinery, but I swear that no matter how much I fettle the procedure to be as frictionless as possible, they always have some reason as to why they're not using it. It's aggravating as shit.
