That's the difference between "old school" psychiatry where first, you get to know the PERSON & their circumstances, then with that info, evaluate/understand the symptoms.
As opposed to the current "evidence-based CBT" - only look at the "symptoms" & suggest a "statistically-most useful CBT" - ignoring that not all painful feelings are symptoms of disordered thoughts/neurotransmitters.
Current psychiatry is a lot of quick-fix junk-"therapy" rather than helping the PERSON.
