Bolts are being replaced by Blazers at Chevy but the U.S has definitely made an affordable EV. If you qualify for the rebate, and especially if your state has its own, it’s much cheaper than an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle.

That’s just upfront. Then consider that maintenance is roughly 30% less and you’ll typically pay 30-60% less on energy/mile compared to an ICEV. Article from January but still.

Sometimes companies will only listen to something if they have to pay money to do it.

What's really wild is when companies have to bring in an outside professional meeting facilitator. The facilitator's job was mainly to get the participants to follow the meeting agenda. I had my arm twisted into being a scribe for one of these in which two departments had to meet for joint project. It was clear that both the departments hated each other.

@Theblueone …In many places this rhetorical strategy was quite seductive to younger voters with no first-hand experience of the baneful consequences of such views the last time they had gained intellectual ascendancy, half a century before. But only in Britain were the political disciples of Hayek and Friedman able to seize control of public policy and wreak a radical transformation in the country’s political culture."

Enema_Cowboy,
@Enema_Cowboy@dotnet.social avatar

@shoq I've been thinking that the US should try an experiment on the efficacy of capital punishment. We could expand it to cover political corruption and after 20 years, we could see if it is indeed a deterrence.

What are your thoughts on DNF (Did Not Finish)-ing books? Do you feel guilty about it? Do you worry you missed out on something? Or are you confident in dropping a book and reaching for the next one?

At what point are you most likely to DNF, if ever? What sorts of things cause you to DNF?

My friend, book blogger Kriti, was musing on these questions a while back, and it sparked this new post: https://armedwithabook.com/dealing-with-dnf-the-practice-of-did-not-finish/
