@tinkebell Probleem is dat er ongetwijfeld ook hardcore Hamas aanhangers tussen de demonstranten zitten, als vervolgens dan velen gemaskerd demonstreren (en zelfs onderhandelen) ben je allemaal verdacht..

Volgens mij is het simpel, niet onderhandelen met mensen die hun gezicht bedekken. Ook demonstraties met bedekt gezicht niet tolereren.

@mfswager Nee, zo was het 10 jaar geleden, natuurlijk heeft China wel een agenda om macht te krijgen , EU en VS te verzwakken, maar helaas doen ze niet veel meer voor ons onder qua kennis, technologie ed Chinese arbeiders zijn ook niet de goedkoopste meer.

Like many other technologists, I gave my time and expertise for free to because the content was licensed CC-BY-SA - meaning that it was a public good. It brought me joy to help people figure out why their code wasn't working, or assist with a bug.

Now that a deal has been struck with to scrape all the questions and answers in Stack Overflow, to train models, like , without attribution to authors (as required under the CC-BY-SA license under which Stack Overflow content is licensed), to be sold back to us (the SA clause requires derivative works to be shared under the same license), I have issued a Data Deletion request to Stack Overflow to disassociate my username from my Stack Overflow username, and am closing my account, just like I did with Reddit, Inc.

The data I helped create is going to be bundled in an and sold back to me.

In a single move, Stack Overflow has alienated its community - which is also its main source of competitive advantage, in exchange for token lucre.

Stack Exchange, Stack Overflow's former instantiation, used to fulfill a psychological contract - help others out when you can, for the expectation that others may in turn assist you in the future. Now it's not an exchange, it's .

Programmers now join artists and copywriters, whose works have been snaffled up to create solutions.

The silver lining I see is that once OpenAI creates LLMs that generate code - like Microsoft has done with Copilot on GitHub - where will they go to get help with the bugs that the generative AI models introduce, particularly, given the recent GitClear report, of the "downward pressure on code quality" caused by these tools?

While this is just one more example of , it's also a salient lesson for folks - if your community is your source of advantage, don't upset them.

Let's not forget Israel will never destroy the terrorist organisation Hamas by attacks on Gaza and/or by fully occupying it. Hamas can only be destroyed by offering the palestinians some alternative for their future, some perspective, which seems to be completely lacking until now.

@jonbanquer @geopolitics I understand your point but reading the history of this conflict from 1948 until now, some state of peaceful co-existence is the only way out for both parties. Also let's not forget it's not only about Gaza but also about the West Bank.

Waarom zou de UvA geen contacten meer mogen hebben met de universiteit van Tel Aviv ? Israel is nog steeds een land waar Nederland betrekkingen mee onderhoudt, verder is de universiteit niet hetzelfde als de regering daar, veel studenten in Israël steunen die ook niet?

@heinragas ...mijn indruk is dat juist in universiteiten en onder studenten in Israel het verzet tegen regering Netanyahu het grootste is, is boycotten dan handig vraag ik me af, ze zijn ook op geen enkele manier verantwoordelijk voor wat er gebeurt in Gaza

Israel drops leaflets over Gaza ordering people to move away to "safer" areas, it's all a bit surreal because who will feed them there, how safe will it be, when can they return etcetera ?

@serge That's not what I am saying, that would be even worse. Not bombing civilian areas from the air could be an option, Israel has a long and successful history of killing Hamas and other terrorists by other means.

@serge I really want Hamas fully removed from this earth , weakening them can help, but how is Israel going to filter/remove Hamas from 2 million people in Gaza. The only way (strategically) is to offer young Palestinians something else, some alternative, why would they stop fighting when there is nothing else for them? As Rabin and better Israëli leaders then Netanyahu understood, you must kill terrorists but also offer some perspective for peace, that is missing in my opinion.
