Re-introductory post - I left mastodon.au a few months back when the old admin said it was going to be shut down. When the new admin took over, it was too late. Now I'm back over here 😎 I post about random things, work - which is about climate data, architecture and academia. I have a smol conure named Pete Heisenbirb who makes an appearance every so often. OK, here is what I do for work... I'm not just a pretty face...

In my latest research project, I am doing simulations that show the mould growth risk in buildings, this is a simulation for an autoclaved aerated concrete masonry wall in NatHERS CZ27 (northern regional Victoria) with a vapour impermeable membrane. IT IS GOING TO GROW MOULD I made thousands of these with different types of walls, membranes and climates. Bleary eyed. #science #AcademicChatter #work

Going to start my NYE costume tonight. Most of it is from op shop finds. But had to go to Spotlight for a few things and discovered the birch scissors are 50% off. Got great scissors for the price of shitty scissors. Ah the things that amuse me as I age. Is getting excited over scissors is a sign I’m old? 😂😂😂 or a #sewing geek?

I have two guilts that always come up whenever I buy something.

1. That I am supposed to be saving my money and anytime I spend money on something non-essential, I am wasting it.

2. Anything I do that is non essential to being alive is unduly impacting the earth.

But still I live my life like most privileged people - only I probably overthink things and probably don’t consume as much as I would have. #consumerism #money #ClimateChange

I’ve been recovering from burnout. It’s not enough to rest. Instead, I found it therapeutic to do things slowly. The last few days I have been mindfully cooking, reading slowly, reordering my pantry and sorted through my kitchen drawer. Regardless of the outcome, the act of doing these things has helped immensely. I think I will change my #BurnoutRecovery hashtag to #SlowLiving from now on.
