Wer hat Erfahrung mit Bodenbetten? Das Kind zeigt die ersten Ansätze aus dem Gitterbett zu klettern - es muss also eine Alternative her.
Sie ist fast zwei, das Zimmer hat leider keinen Platz für Standardlattenrost + Matratze, da noch ein "Gästebett" drin steht.
Ich überlege am Maß 80*160...taugt das was?

Das Gästebett ist mir wegen der Sturzgefahr (relativ hoch) zu gefährlich für sie und würde mit entsprechendem Rausfallschutz tendenziell auch klettern ermöglichen.

@kleinjulika @fenomen @fedieltern Kannst Du eine ganze Seite ausbauen? Das hatten wir damals so, das Bett stand dann direkt an unserem dran. D.h. Kind in eigenem Bett, Seite zu uns offen, dann halt unser grosses Bett. Weich zum rausrollen, aber trotzdem selber schlafend...

The nice: Setting Requires/After in a services file, to have a service start after the VPN is done, makes this service start after the VPN is done, which means it can bind to its IPs.

The bad: Setting Requires/After in a services file also means that, when the VPN goes away (other host is off, for example), the service will be killed every few seconds with a SIGTERM, which is annoying until you remember that setup.

Selten (derzeit einmal im Jahr) eine Fahrt in die Gegend um Frankfurt/Main einzuplanen, Firmenevent.

Nötig: Gute Adminkenntnisse mit Clustern. des ganzen ist immer Ziel. (Anfangs klein, aber wird wachsen).
Umgang mit /gitlab und anderen "Tools drumrum" - und wir sind voll basiert.

ist das Ziel, ist weniger gern gesehen.

Kind2 (8) agiert sehr selbstbestimmt. Vor einiger Zeit hat es beschlossen, dass es keine Zahnspange mehr tragen wird. Super! Und jetzt? Sätze wie "Du wirst in 20 Jahren dankbar sein ..." kann man sich genauso sparen wie "Du trägst die, sonst ..." oder das etwas bessere "Ich hab Sorge, dass ..." ... Das bringt a.l.l.e.s. nichts.

Wie habt ihr das so gemacht? Habt ihr Anregungen?

Anmerkung am Rande: ob das Gebiss wirklich eine Spange benötigt, kann ich nicht einschätzen. Für mich sieht es ok aus ... aber ich hab nicht Zahnkunde studiert ...

Die Sätze mögen nicht helfen. Aber vielleicht tun es Bilder. Google findet genug negative Beispiele was so raus kommen kann.

Und: 8 ist recht früh. Da ist noch viel Zeit. Wenn das jetzt partout nicht wird, mit 10/11 nochmal probieren. Bei meinem großen wurde der Beginn extra etwas später gelegt, das sollte also machbar sein. (Aber red mal mit dem Doktor drüber).

Das hatten wir gerade mit Autofahren. "Mir wird immer übel beim Autofahren" (obwohl es vorher nie Probleme gab).

Mittlerweile wieder besser: Als erstes half, wohin zu fahren, wo das Ziel so aufregend war, dass die Fahrt darüber quasi vergessen wurde. Und mit Freund.
Und dann war es Ablenkung (Musik/Podcast hören).

Ggf. hilft es bei euch ja mit Ablenkung, z.b. lasst die Kids Freunde mit einladen.

Co-workers are not your family. You may like them, become good friends with them, hang out with them, help them move in exchange for pizza, but calling them your family is a way companies manipulate you into doing unrealistic things, things you would and should only do for real family.

This highly depends. There is a huge bunch of companies where this is true.
The opposite does exist too, and a company can take better care of you, than your "real"family.

As in any family, there are good and there are bad ones. Just the same goes for companies and how they are internally. Mostly though, the bigger, the worse.

But, generalizing things, as usual, turns out to be wrong.

Kommt vermutlich auch auf das Alter an, bei uns kam es dann irgendwann dazu, dass eine technische Lösung zu "wie lange darf tablet/..." am besten tut. Kein "ohhh, noch 2 Minuten, dann habe ich x". Zum Beispiel mit https://timelimit.io/de/. (Das ist dann natürlich nicht weit geräteübergreifend).

Nötig: Gute Kenntnisse. Und man sollte andere Sprachen (viel C, etwas Java, Bash) zumindest grob lesen können.
Es geht ums (Neu/Um)schreiben von Applikationen.
Außerdem Umgang mit / nötig - und wir sind voll basiert.

Eine Alternative sind Kinderhotels (z.b. familotel), je nach dem was man da nimmt hat man auch viel, viel Kinderbetreuung/bespassung dabei. Unseren hat das altersabhängig sehr zugesagt.

Ist aber das Gegenteil von günstig.

Good old times, where are you? Todays topic:

My laptop, now on , (and "just works". That is, music plays either via the local speaker, a USB Audio device, a Headphone, a USB headphone (one of those used for video calls), one or two bluetooth connected speakers or, now also, via HDMI. Without a hassle. It even remembers things when I plug/unplug. It lets me easily (KDE, something in the task bar) change stuff around, and it also has no problem to have one source push to multiple of the targets - at home music usually goes to two at the same time. You can even easily adjust the delay that one of them needs.

No long fiddling with any setup, magic or tools, it just works.

(Compared to the customer laptop that runs a recent copy of the fuckup that dares to name "Operating system" - that one is overburdened just dealing with local speaker and usb headphones and breaks on that often enough). No idea why anyone uses that crap system.

@hazelweakly Don't forget the most important point, which unfortunately too many do: Location. A job offer (or seeker) in America is mostly entirely uninteresting for someone in Europe. (State explicitly if you are up for international, it changes a lot in the whole process of hiring).

And: State of you are up for remote work (again both sides).

So you arrive in , go to a service desk in the Airport, take about 5 minutes time, and you leave with a shiny new card, already fully working, unlimited data for the next 90 days, 4G. For a (to me) reasonable price.

And no matter where you go, it just works, fast.

Okay, so I've had a lot of people ask what the is. So I will make this post and pin it to my profile.

Basically, I (and any who join me) are vowing to use the same install of one distro for a single year. When something goes wrong, we fix it. No distrohopping, nothing like that. VM use and containers are allowed. This is to be done on your most used PC. Other PCs are at your discretion.

I chose @opensuse Tumbleweed as my distro.

Sooo, I'm somewhat around 23 or 24 (25?) year challenge by now with @debian, i think.

But i did have a colleague at one point who would have had trouble with a 2 day challenge.... He was on a new distribution basically daily, many of which i never heard of before or after again....

My first honest impression of threads: it sucks. It seems to prompt typical IG stuff from the fashion and travel world. Zero stuff from tech or the IT world. Not a Twitter or Mastodon replacement unless they fine-tune Algo and everyone joining it. We are all stuck here for now 😉 😂
