I might post about the shameful lack of empathy for Israelis that I have seen from leftist commentators on mastodon. The abusive narrative that a traumatized people group, with deep historical ties to Palestine, pushed out of Europe by the Holocaust and unwelcome in Russia according to their pogroms, must be perfect victims, is disturbing.
Furthermore, Palestinians didn’t ask for any of this. The Holocaust impacted on them, too. We are seeing the results of trauma and generations of injustice.1/

What’s up with the very aggressive atheism I’m seeing on the Fediverse recently?

Especially when, out of left field, random atheists suddenly drop into mentions and get needlessly combative with people who are just minding their own business.

I remember Reddit getting like this 15 years ago, and it didn’t work out well for that site. And if you don’t remember why, I’ll just leave this here.

I am so disgusted and disappointed at a lot of people on mastodon. Shaming people for refusing to dismiss Hamas brutality or demanding I condemn Israel, as if there is no complexity or nuance? Where is the ability to think critically? Where is the freedom of mind to see that ISIS-level brutality is never justified? Why must saying so be taken as an indicator I’m fine with civilian deaths? Where is the good faith and decency? A lot of y’all are no better than MAGA and I have had enough of the bs.
