There’s a growing trend of U.S. lawmakers altering (downright rejecting or rewriting) ballot initiatives after they have passed.
An example:
In November 2023, Ohio voters passed an amendment to their state’s constitution protecting the right to #abortion. Within a week, a group of Ohio Republican lawmakers declared the amendment to be invalid.
Will lawmakers accept “the will of the people” in upcoming elections?
This is your reminder that the republican leader is a rapist.
"I’m embarrassed for my country that this serial sexual assailant is the frontrunner for the Republican Party presidential nomination in 2024 rather than a federal inmate."
This story about Elmo spreading democracy-threatening election misinfo on Twitter is precisely why everyone needs to treat that platform like the pariah it is. No, you sticking around to counter the misinfo won't help. That's like raking leaves in a wind storm. And yes, I know there's community there, but mingling there does you and all of us more harm than good.
The most effective thing you can do is stop giving Twitter oxygen and allowing it to become just another fringe outlet, like 4chan or Daily Caller. With the very real prospect Trump will retake the White House, this stuff matters.
PETITION: Remove Libs of Tik Tok (Chaya Raichik) From Oklahoma Library Board
“Oklahoma’s culture war-obsessed superintendent has appointed professional harasser Chaya Raichik to the state’s Department of Education Library Media Advisory Committee.
Chaya Raichik, who is NOT even a citizen of Oklahoma, nor trained in library science, pushed for banning books across the country and her campaign of misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric has been…”
Having immigrated legally to the US, this is upsetting to me not only because of the horrific Nazi stench of it but also because it makes me somehow "superior".
The racist dehumanization of people here is truly stunning and Americans should be ashamed of themselves.
Secret White House surveillance program that gives cops access to trillions of call records? Oh look. Here's via EFF wrote about that program (Hemisphere) back in 2018: https://www.eff.org/cases/hemisphere
Nobody really knows what is meant by "officer of the government." It might include the president. It might not. A president occupies a unique position under the Constitution.
Basically what the judge did was punt the issue to the appellate court.
The judge found that Trump incited an insurrection (a finding of fact) but didn't find that he was an officer of the federal government (a matter of law).
I'm hearing on the streets that in our 'free country,' you're not allowed to criticize #Netanyahu in any way, shape or form for anything he says or does or you will be canceled - even if you're Jewish.
My daughter just canceled her 2024 birthright trip. My accountant canceled his annual Tel Aviv vacation. My friend canceled her Jerusalem art exhibition. None canceled out of fear. All canceled on principal. We can cancel you too, Bibi the Butcher. Jews are not a monolith.
Insurrectionists refer to President Biden: as the 3rd Obama administration, and speak as if Obama is president.
Why? Because they’re racist. America having had a Black president is something they can’t get over. In fact, I learned that much of their Biden-is-feeble discourse is just an Obama-is-president meme.
Trump has over and over referred to Biden as Obama because he has advanced dementia, or because he spends all day attuned to far-right insurrectionist media that refers to Obama as the real president and Trump has chosen to explicitly employ it because he knows he can use it without MAGAs missing a beat or thinking him deranged?
I really think normal Americans don’t know just how sick the insurrectionists are.
🚨 At least 9 precincts in Hinds County—Mississippi's most populous county and the home of the 83%-Black capital city of Jackson—have run out of ballots in the statewide election.
@leftylabourtech why do you not mention Hamas killing those civilians n cold blood which started all this. Maybe stop repeating word for word Hamas propaganda?
From focus on the 'soft voice' of extremist #MikeJohnson to soft-selling #Trump's dictatorial plans to calling killing civilians 'a crater,' something's very wrong with the #media today
It's called cowardice
From Gaza City to Capitol Hill, a cowed media is chronicling the death of democracy in a passive voice
