It insane to me how often women are not given pain management for gynecological procedures, because many many years ago a male doctor who's never had a vagina, cervix, or uterus decided that there weren't enough nerve endings up there to hurt significantly. I think it's time to put this fallacy to bed. It most definitely does hurt, and people who have literally no experience with female equipment don't get to decide this for me. Trust me docs, you don't want to taste your own medicine on this.

I find it mentally restorative to be in nature, and very critical of big pharma. Folks sometime misinterpret this and think that I'll be into their woo woo version of "medicine". Your "healing crystals" were mined from the Earth in the same exploitative manner. Homeopathy pills are not made in fairtrade factories. My country became free of polio due to a free government run vaccination program. My problem is with the capitalist structure in which a basic necessity is sold for profit.

    What kind of high-school experience did you have? Were you in a clique? Were you popular, unpopular, the coolest kid in your Homeschool? Did you have a sweet jean jacket with patches, or maybe a leather vest? Were you an evil villain or a Mary Sue?

    @RickiTarr The Indian High School experience. Wore a uniform and was unceremoniously pushed into the great rat race. Compete with 400,000 other kids and make it to the top 20000 (at least), or have no prospects. Spiraled into an anxiety disorder. Small town teachers who could not handle advanced concepts, tutorial houses (cram schools) that yelled at you to study for 10+ hours each day. Absolutely would not recommend.

    Dear parents,
    Gentle parenting does NOT mean raising confident idiots. If your teen is bad at a skill, please be honest with them.
    Remember, they are in India. If you don't tell them where they stand the competition will. And then you'll have to deal with a kid who has had a rude shock.

    Context: got a new kid in class who were certain that they are the next Nikola Tesla. Then I put them in the same class as the kid who actually might be :)

    Lots of debate about this, so I'm curious about the consensus.

    Should children be allowed to act professionally, as in having a full time acting job in movie/TV/stage? Feel free to elaborate in the comments.

    @RickiTarr a lot of kids genuinely want to act and are good at it. And they should be supported just like academically gifted students are allowed to take in extra classes and try out Olympiads. But - a LOT of problems arise due to the fact that they aren't just acting to hone their skills, they start earning. Becoming a bread winner inverts the parent-child roles badly. Plus there's very little protection for child actors who are mistreated and overworked on set.

    I usually introduce my students to vectors by citing "despicable me" - the villain is called Vector and his catchphrase is that he commits crimes of both magnitude and direction.

    I have finally reached the stage where 13/14 year old students did not recognise it. One of them looked it up and chirped "oh this came out when I was born! "🙆

    Time to come up with some other movie to introduce vectors 😅
