Why do some people add the hashtag to random photos? Only because they added image description? Is that helpful to anyone?

@alttexthalloffame I don't know, but I'm curious to find out!

I only use the hashtag when discussing issues surrounding alt text. I think all image, GIFs, and videos should have alt text descriptions. It doesn't make sense to add the hashtag just to show it has a description.

I've seen similar usage of the Mastodon hashtag - tagging posts that don't seem to be related to Mastodon at all.

Moxxi thinks that all cars are potentially hers. She loves to walk around parking lots, sniff out every car and pick the one she prefers. Today, of all the fancy cars available, she picked the rustiest beat up Honda Civic. She wouldn't leave it.
