60s Hippie who never grew up!✌🏽 I’ve been a Liberal (& as woke as a grandma can be) my whole life, and will die a Liberal.🗽 I’m passionate about preserving democracy and the earth for future generations. 🌎🌲🌳😁 It’s time for Boomers to let go & let the kids take over. We’ve done some good but some of us have really effed up! I enjoy “playing at” golf (if you share the frustration of achieving a consistent golf swing, you get this). ⛳️🏌️‍♀️ For FUN I do ZUMBA! 💃 Image: Vote Like It’s 2020!

    Ta-daaa! Via Kyle Cheney:

    Walt #NAUTA has settled on Sasha DADAN, an attorney based in Judge Aileen #Cannon's Fort Pierce area, as his local counsel. This will allow his arraignment to go forward and other aspects of the case to proceed. #TrumpIndictment #legal

    Or as @KlasfeldReports called her, “a 34-year-old Republican all-purpose criminal defense attorney.”

    If accurate, I believe this article answers a lot of questions we have about Meta/Threads incipient adoption of the same protocol that Mastodon uses. I’m not well-versed in the technical aspects but it seems to answer my concerns & questions. Please let me know if you disagree with anything here.

    EDIT for clarity: The 200+ attempts may have been overcounted as DDG hadn't tooled their VPN for Threads yet.

    On mastodon I click on what people I follow post (including their boosted toots) plus toots about the hashtags I follow.
    Questions:

    1. with the advent of Meta on the Fediverse, will it be safe to allow new followers or follow new people?
    2. should I institute the “Request” for followers so I can screen? how can I tell if a potential new follower is a Meta account?
    3. is it safe to click on boosted toots?
      Ps—Pls don’t laugh—you can see I’m naïve about data collection.

    For new Mastodon users, you likely aren't seeing art and photos fully. Most instances crop images by default, and if you don't want to have to click on images to see them fully, you need to turn off the setting.

    Turning off the setting makes the Mastodon experience better.

    Go to your settings. Find Post Layout. Uncheck the box next to "Crop images in non-expanded posts to 16x9." Enjoy art and photos fully.

    My guess is that so-called Twitter influencers will hang on until someone has to pry their cold fingers from their keyboards—rather than risk being just a regular account somewhere else!
    If “influencers” are REALLY influencers, they should chart their own paths (like you did) … or they’re not really influencers, are they⁉️
    Probably most who follow you here do so because we took your lead to move (& maybe read your posts on Twitter alternatives).

    Thank you for DoJ Jan 6 Investigations FAQs. You made it simple to understand how strategic the DoJ has acted and why. They know they are up against an insidious kind of defendant. It’s not DoJ’s first rodeo for sure, but for most of us it IS our first rodeo!
    I wish the former prosecutors on tv would try to temper the public’s expectations rather than be so critical of DoJ — they must know better.

    Kinds of replies I don't really love:

    • Arguments (like when someone says they disagree, but claims they weren't arguing, they were just "making conversation.”)
    • Sarcasm (like when I say I don't like something, and someone does it anyway and pretends that's what sarcasm means.)
    • Jokes (like when I say something serious, and someone replies with a joke that amuses only themselves.)

    bronakins,
    @bronakins@sfba.social avatar

    @louie

    Yup, I’ve hesitated before replying, wondering , “is this worthy enough?”But since I don’t know the stranger to whom I’m replying (like right now), so how would I judge if they want or need to hear what I have to say or not.
    So I ask myself if it’s important to me to say it & if yes, I go ahead & post.
    (Of course I am assuming good faith and not intending to offend.)
