A bit of a strange day for me, carpentry wise. I finished framing the floor for the addition and hit pause. I went in to see what I’d take on and was suddenly overwhelmed by it all. Realizing there’s still so much to do, and realizing it’ll be worse come sealift when so much arrives and I’ll be racing winter. And overcome with the feeling I’m just not good enough.

I am, and this will pass. But two days in and I just gave up on the day.

Tomorrow.

@NunavutBirder It looks so good. And it's a lot of work. But you'll get there.

Flowering now: Rock Harlequin aka Pale Corydalis (Capnoides sempervirens) is a delicate plant, growing near lakes, often in cracks of boulders.

into the ground, though we could still add to the second row. Will acquire more this week maybe.

Also K replaced the that didn't make it through the winter, and the that didn't survive in an indoor pot past December. Those dark days are tough for it, but we use it very heavily anticipating it won't last.

I think I've only twice managed to get rosemary to last to be replanted in spring.

@ottaross The last few years I managed to keep rosemary alive in the house during the winter, harvesting small amounts every now and then. Mine just needed way more water than I gave them previously when they didn't survive. Had it in a north-facing window.

Handsome dude in the oak tree. The American Goldfinch males have put on their best colours now.

Pretty among the Reindeer lichens: the False Morels (Gyromitra esculenta) are out there, lots of them.

First Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder, and I even had the camera with me.
Welcome back, tiny one 😍 .

I didn't expect to find this today: my first ever Morel/Morchel (Morchella angusticeps).
Now I have to look for a recipe fit for the occasion.

@ottaross We have lots of those here, but I prefer to stay clear of those.

It poured colour from the sky last night.
Last one, I almost promise. There are so many beautiful photos posted today, my timeline is filled with colour.

The Aurora Borealis overhead is mind-boggling even though there is a thin layer of clouds. Photos taken towards the south, from my backyard.
JPG out of camera.

A nice clump of Reindeer Lichen.
They grow very slowly, only about 3-5 mm a year.

So, this was released today. My third stamp with Canada Post. Qarlinngua (The pants). And technically my second stamp with a family member in it, as the tiny figure in it is my son Travis. Now for one with Hilary in it.

I’ve very proud of all of these, beyond the cache. They are about my home, and family. And also my family has a long history with the Post Office, 101 years. My grandfather, father, and brother were all postmasters in Roblin.

@NunavutBirder A beautiful image. Congratulations!

I didn't catch the plunge .... but the Caspian Tern caught their dinner, I think a catfish. Nice to see the local pair back from their long winter vacation.

In an ATV trip to Innaaluup Nuvua last summer we stopped at the top of this magnificent valley above Innaarulaalikuluk and Admiralty Inlet.

Why is filing taxes always so stressful? Even if you don't even do it yourself?
Asking for a friend 🙄 .

"Lurch Laich" 😊 .

Egg mass of an amphibian in a shallow vernal pool. A gel surrounds the eggs so I guess it's from a Spotted Salamander.

They hatched! 😊
Though my visit to the Raven nest was cut short because a hiker informed me about a mother bear with 3 cubs just ahead - I did hear squawky little raven voices! Both parents were away looking for food, but this one came to check me out.
