We found three salamanders in the bottom of a waterlogged garden pot under our rhododendron not far from the pond. So we transferred them into the pond stream under the little wood bridge in the moss and rocks. ❤️ 🦎 #gardening#pondlife#PortAlberni#Salamander#amphibians

"Oh, hello there!" I said after I squealed with joy.
When I was a child, I used to go hunting for newts, salamanders, snakes, turtles—you name it. It's been almost 20 years since I've seen one of these, and it was just as magical today as it was back then. 🥰
I placed it next to where I found it, where it crawled under a pile of loose soil and decaying leaf litter.
I hardly ever post images of qnimals. But I could not resist this inhabitant of the forest gorge I currently post images from.
The fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) has always been my favorite amphibian. It signals its toxicity with bright colors. Salamanders are found in European deciduous forests, especially those with creeks, because their larvae develop in fast running water.
I also saw a #salamander, waiting for me bravely in the middle of the trail, and as I jumped over him, stopped and started recording him, only then did he leisurely start walking away. What a diva!

This was the first time I saw one in these woods, too. I knew that some of them must live around here, I just wasn't lucky enough - until today! :)

Wilhelm Nowak wurde im KZ dem sogenannten Schuhläuferkommando zugewiesen. Dabei mussten Häftlinge während eines defacto Todesmarsch ohne Pause spezielle Strecken im Lager laufen, um die Schuhe und Produkte der kriegswichtigen Firmen #Salamander, #UhuKleber, #Continental, #BASF und IGFarben zu testen.
Today, I caught a #Dragonfly laying eggs in our #Garden at the #Pond. They’re regular guests. But I also caught a fire #Salamander wondering around. This is a rather rare thing.
Starts out with gills living in the water. Then metamorphoses into these cute little guys who run around in the leaf litter eating slugs and insects. Then after several years and possibly miles away from their natal pond, they morph again into adults who may never leave the water again!
