People of Mastodon!

I'm researching the growth of ebikes ...

... in cities around the US

I've talked to many people who love them!

But also want to include the perspective of folks who have concerns ...

... i.e. about the speed and weight of ebikes in accidents with pedestrians or other cyclists, and the like

If anyone has thoughts they wanna share, ping me! I'm all ears: clive@clivethompson.net

Pass this along if you know anyone else with perspective they want to share

#fedibikes

@clive
We ride bicycles on the hike and bike trails. Our concern is that they are fast enough for the sound they make to be no use when they approach (also using the hike and bike trail. They are also fast enough to make the traditional bicyclists warning "On your left {or right} useless)".

Via Adam Schiff:

People are losing respect for our system of justice because a Speaker of the House stands outside a courthouse to falsely denigrate it.

If you have no respect for the rule of law, Mr. Speaker,

At least have some self-respect.

I wonder how that will play with Dems in the House?

My beer of choice since last Thanksgiving is non alcohol beer. I've been trying various, including Samuel Adams brews, but I've been spoiled by my first, Athletic Brewing. The web site boasts an assortment of NA brews, most of which have not shown up here, or, like the dark, are hard to find where it's sold. We just discovered the Ripe Pursuit Lemon Radler and at first I was disappointed that an ingredient was cane sugar, but I think it's going to be an occasional treat.
https://athleticbrewing.com/pages/athletic-acq?utm_term=athletic%20brewing%20company&utm_campaign=WP_US_BB_SRCH_Beer_Brand&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&hsa_acc=9171882600&hsa_cam=6514605298&hsa_grp=1343603834317996&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=s&hsa_tgt=kwd-83975643215375:loc-190&hsa_kw=athletic%20brewing%20company&hsa_mt=e&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&tw_source=bing&tw_campaign=410158161&tw_adid=83975597713955&msclkid=e78622e5a4be18f3759144da1a1de279&utm_content=Beer%20-%20Brand%20-%20Core

@kimlockhartga
I was shocked when I went to Athletic's website and saw all the variety it's put out! Whole Foods, Sprouts and Total Wine carry four or so of their products, but the chain supermarkets have none! Also, the price on the web site is $3-4 more than in the stores here. I haven't checked yet to see if that price includes shipping.

dougiec3,
@dougiec3@libretooth.gr avatar

@msquebanh @kimlockhartga @stephanie
I recommend all of the Athletic brews, except for the Belgian White, which is too dry for my taste. If you're an IPA fan, they have what you want.
Next is pretty much a toss up. Samuel Adams makes a NA IPA and another that has orange zest as an ingredient that gives it a kind of flowery taste. I haven't tried the Guiness or Budweiser or Busch because I didn't like their regular beer long ago. Want to try Deshutes.
Check ingredients to avoid infused seltzer.

Quite a list! We don't have anywhere near that selection here, yet.

I don’t have dark skies anymore, but if you do, and have clear skies, keep an eye on the night this weekend. A G3/G4 solar storm is predicted this weekend. That could spark Aurora all the way down to the southern US.
