What do you think? How many active (s) are there in the world?

ercanbrack,
@ercanbrack@mastodon.online avatar

@pkirn @amadeus

Reaper is every bit as popular as Bitwig and Ardour, and possibly more so in the Linux realm. I have doubts that metrics from just those two developers would give a clear enough picture as to the number of linux users. There are probably 20 DAWs available in the Linux world.

Along with the little oddball DAWs, there are big names, like Presonus, Bitwig, Harrison, and Cockos. Here is a list of just the most popular ones:

I am still struggling to #debug some #proprietary #audio #plugin (s) using a #flatpak DAW. Is there any way I can see what resources the plugins are trying to access from within the Flatpak #sandbox? Running #bitwig with flatpak run -v com.bitwig.BitwigStudio does not reveal anything and flatpak run --command=sh --devel com.bitwig.BitwigStudio > gdb /app/bin/bitwig-studio (after installing org.freedesktop.Sdk.Debug) only says: (No debugging symbols found in /app/bin/bitwig-studio)

Here is, as far as I can tell, the complete commandline reference. If there is a way to accomplish what you are seeking, it will likely be here:

Does converting to sound like a good idea? I don't now. Appealing perhaps, but smart? Maybe not. 🤔

I liked endeavorOS quite a bit when I was using rolling distros. It may be a worthwhile consideration. 🙂

Am I the only one who almost always disables boosts for new friends on ? I would be completely overwhelmed by the amount of stuff in my timeline if I didn't.
Wouldn't it be great to be able to toggle between showing and not showing boosts in the timeline?
Plain disabling them sometimes feels a little sad. 🫣️
I am primarily interested in what my friends have to say but of course at times also interested to see what they support with boosts.

Use the Lists feature to provide control. This nay sound weird, but i almost never use my main feed, because I have created targeted lists that allow me to view what I want, when I want, rather than everything all at once.

The name is set, the #logo and a minimal #corporate design are made (I used an #opensource font and did all the work in #inkscape), the #domain is bought and set up, the #website is in the works (with #grav) and our thai #friends are on board as shareholders as well. 😃️

Who do you think does the best version of Spanish Bombs?

Here's the choices:

  1. The Clash - Spanish Bombs (Original)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul0uJfhywW8

  2. Ceci Bastida - Spanish Bombs
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H81alHWi0H4

  3. Melodee Fernandez - Spanish Bombs

Honestly, all three are just so good. I'd love to know your opinions.

ercanbrack,
@ercanbrack@mastodon.online avatar

@atomicpoet

I voted for The Clash original. If Ceci had an actual studio recording of her version, it would probably sound fantastic. I haven't found one.

You didn't list this, but I wanted to post a version of this song that I personally really like. I hope you like it too. 😎👍

Linux is no longer out of the reach of regular musicians.

Linux music production is nearly as easy as that of Windows or MacOS music production.

Linux is advancing very quickly, and music production capabilities are so much more advanced than just 5 years ago.

Pro Audio music production on Linux is a reality TODAY!

Do you think using Linux for Music Production is difficult?

Linux Music production used to be really hard. In the early days, there was no plugin support for DAWS. Every individual application was standalone & was strung together by routing the audio to & from applications.

Those days are gone. Linux is just like Windows and Macs, & nearly as easy. Linux DAWs support LV2, VST3, and CLAP plugins.

A Linux DAW is a great option!

Has anyone else noticed that you have to "Delete and Repost" in order to get your Youtube link to show the video player in your post? It appears to be a bug in the browser interface.

All of the software I listed above is high quality and Open Source. It is entirely possible to have a complete Linux Music Production setup composed of just open source. I didn't even list all of the available programs--just some of my favorites.

Additionally, it is important to know that there are numerous freeware plugins and tools.

And to go beyond that, there is a growing number of quality commercial offerings.

While not needed, all is available!

I still keep Facebook although I never post anything there. I keep it to stay in contact with people I care about that won’t leave the place.

Today, I saw that some friends had posted, so I went to see what they had to say. While there, I noticed that the advertising had increased.

Every third post was a “Sponsored” advertisement!! Every third post!! 33% of my feed was advertisements!! How can those users tolerate that?!?!

I am so grateful for the Fediverse!!

After being in the Fediverse for the last 2 1/2 years, I am still updating, editing, & organizing my follow list to make my main feed exactly what I want it to be. I use lists to remove things I read rarely, but don’t want to forget. I also use lists to make sure I don’t miss any posts from those who are most important to me.

You too should develop a system to maximize your enjoyment here.

There are no algorithms. This is on purpose. Know how to improve your feed & enjoyment here.
