as promised, here’s a pic of what I was eagerly awaiting yesterday. it’s the 2 units on the right. both pairs are UHF wireless gizmos to hook up your instrument to a sound board. I got the ones on the left first but, except for my vintage banjolele, I don’t use a strap. instead, I cradle the uke in my right arm. using the pair on the left means that I kept bumping the thing, so it was plinka plinka crackle. the right pair folds so I don’t bump it with my elbow. problem solved. and it sounds fab.
If anyone is planning anything for Weed Day this Saturday, 20th April (4/20), and you’re looking for something to put on your Weed Day song playlist, I have something that may just fit the bill.
Gettin Stoned (feat. Andre Louis) will be coming out this Friday on Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify, and all the other streamy places, just in time for you to add it to your Saturday playlist. Be sure to give @Onj a follow!! He did an awesome job on the drums for this track and is a general, all-round legend!
As all #Dgarheads know, the original, full-quality wav file for every #DgarMusic track is available for download from their respective Soundcloud page, which you can then convert to your favourite format and play it on any device you choose.
Want to listen to it now? Okay then! Here it is on #Soundcloud!
squirrels are uppity. that’s why I love them. raccoons too, same reason.
we’ve (me and my sweetie) named several of the squirrels that hang out in our backyard. our favorite is Blondie because she’s the palest blonde either of us has ever seen. we believe she actually lives across the street from us, but we don’t care. we (especially my sweetie) has several squirrel munchie stations around our yard.
took me a moment to slap soundcloud around to recognize me, but I got to listen and like it.
weirdly enough, they’ve seemed to lose the tracks I’ve uploaded there and are urging me to upload something new. I wonder if they’ll “find” my other tracks or if I’m just going to be shouting into the void. 🤷♂️
My treasured, most excellent followers, amazing fedizens, mischief-makers, music-lovers, and creatures of multiverse. I’m excited!
Today, under the light of a full moon, I present to you, a brand new Dgar song! Airlock is out now!!
Also, I have bonus shenanigans.
I’d like to give some algorithms a good punch in the face, and shock them into noticing this, my first new release of the year. If you would be generous enough to give my new track a play (or three) on your favourite streaming service (and your second and third favourite streaming service if you’re up for it), I would very much appreciate it.
This experiment will need a lot of people, so please don’t scroll by. I really do need your help to do this. It’s a short song, a bit over two and a half minutes, and I’m really excited for you to hear it!
It’s my dream that I can spend my days making music and sharing bad jokes for all you beautiful beings. I’m working hard right now to release at least one new song per month for 2024. The goal is to supplement the income from my part-time job, at least enough that I don’t need to get a second job.
Additionally, if we can make a meaningful impact on a song release with this kind of action, I’d love if we were able to help other musicians and songwriters of Mastodon with their song launches in the future. Perhaps we can come up with a hashtag for this kind of mission? Please leave your thoughts, suggestions, and expert knowledge in the comments.
I’ll pin this toot, and share the insights, stats, and relevant results for this experiment in the comments as they become available.
Thank you for your help in my attempt at breaking the interwebs. Hopefully we can give some algorithms something to think about!
Boosts are very much welcome and appreciated! I adore those favourites and likes too!
when the inventor of USB passed on they held a solemn ceremony. at the cemetery the pallbearers carried his casket to the grave and set it into the cradle. the minister said the appropriate words and they slowly lowered him down. then the pallbearers sighed, shrugged, raised him back up and turned him around. it re-lowered with no problem.
#Dgar is currently on a mission to make some new songs. I have already recorded one and it came together really well. I have three people who listen to my new songs for me as my test audience and it’s the first time they’ve all said “Good to go, no notes” except for one thing. They all insist I wait until April 20 to release it. No need to guess what the song is about.
I really wanted to get something out sooner, so I’ve written another song. I’ve laid down the bass and guitar, and the drum track is sounding pretty good. I’ll try and get the vocals down tomorrow, and start modelling an album cover in blender tonight. Imma bit rusty on Blender, but I’m sure it’ll come back to me. I’ll try and get this one out before the end of the month, and I might have something up on Soundcloud a bit earlier. I’ll let you know.
Big love to all of you. It’s the crowd here on Mastodon that is inspiring this creativity. You guys are amazing. 🫶
now you can count me in on your list of idiots. for whatever reason, I read April 20th and immediately started trying to figure out what significance that date was to Australians. (the day the indigenous folk agreed to stop eating folks who were lost in the outback? I dunno.)
I either need more coffee or more sleep. this is a conundrum, but I’ll recover. eventually.
and speaking of things Australian, I’ve been telling my sweetie about our conversation(s) and she said, “I’ve found a movie that’s so Australian it actually offers english subtitles.”
so we watched it tonight. sans subtitles.
the movie is called “Kenny” and it was amazingly good. you ever heard of it?
I have no idea if it is/was popular down under, but speaking strictly as a Yank, you can’t help but like the title character.
