Just got asked why you should donate money to a Mastodon instance, rather than dropping the same $$ on . Well, it's not just about cost - it's about healthy conversations. Donating to an instance isn't an attempt to save money, but to invest in a better experience. Steer clear of a place where all the top replies are from blue-check incels, crowding feeds with shitty opinions and ads. On , my voice and those of others aren't drowned out by those buying their way to visibility.

It is endlessly fascinating to me that the selling point for Threads is "Celebs & brands are joining in".
To most, I guess that sounds exciting.
But to me, and I assume most of you in the , this just says "People who want to sell stuff and people who want to tell you to buy stuff are here."

And that's just not an attractive proposition at all. 🤷‍♂️

So the decided to go back crawling to , and guess what? The manchild dictator (the incel non-orange one) is now mocking them openly.
This is straight-up deserved by the CBC and its leadership, and honestly, he's not wrong. The CBC is showing their lack of vision and leadership, and this decision has revealed what spineless, gutless, and cowardly folks run the show over there. I'm pissed for all the Canadians they're supposed to represent.

We've had a bunch of these episodes now. Something feels interesting this time.
Instead of most folks just creating an account, leaving it blank, then going back to Twitter, I'm seeing a slightly higher number actually engaging and tooting.
I hope they stay, because I truly don't see a future for humanity where Twitter is the main way to connect. Because that's not what they're building it for.

Danielle Smith equated the "75% of the public" who got vaccinated, to those who followed Hitler. Never forget. According to her response, she thinks that we should all "move on to talk about issues that currently matter to Albertans and their families".
Apparently she doesn't feel that having an insane Premier who is clearly unfit to lead doesn't matter to Albertans. Are we ready to prove her wrong?

My Twitter account is suddenly a magnet for absolutely "real" human ladies sending follow requests. 🙄 Must be all that 'anti-bot' magic Elon Musk's been working on. Clearly, another smashing success to add to his list.

Despite a surge in electric vehicle use, Calgary's charging infrastructure lags behind. This gap hinders eco-friendly transport choices and inconveniences EV owners. We need more investment in EV infrastructure to truly embrace a greener future.
And yes, just to get ahead of those posts...biking and public transit are the better options, but absolutely not a feasible lifestyle for everyone at this moment.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed by Kathleen Ganley's team's recent attack on a yet-to-announce candidate. It's a clear sign that Ms Ganley lacks genuine leadership qualities.
Leadership is about rising above, not undermining others to self-promote. Her choice to include a column from Rick Bell, (EWW?) further questions her judgment.
Let's demand better leadership and I encourage everyone to reconsider your support for Team Ganley & her endorsers.
