Today I was out with Jax the dog delivering eggs (he's an excellent copilot). We were stopped at a red light and I looked over at the car next to me. Behind the wheel was a woman and next to her was her trusty copilot, a dog the same size as Jax.
I was smiling at this scene when she looked over at me and suddenly I realized what I must look like up in my truck, grinning over sunglasses at her. So I grabbed Jax and held him up to the window and she burst into laughter. Crisis averted.
And yeah, I’d totally do the same thing. I’m glad I’m not the only one who is hyper aware of how things may be perceived by other folk and attempting to alleviate misunderstandings and fears.
Hey #retrocomputing nerds… I have a newton MP 2000 upgraded to a 2100 that I used as my laptop back in the day. The digitiser no longer works (ie, no tapping). What are my options for getting it fixed, and am I bonkers for wanting to try?
Hey everybody. I'm at the internet archive headquarters all day. Tell me something you want to picture of and I'll do my best to supply. Where I can, I'll include a capsule description of what you're looking at as well.
Awhile back on Twitter, I wrote a small thread called "Notes for UI Designers Who Have Lost Their Way". Recently @louie asked if I brought it over here yet.
Well, here is the original post. I'm hoping it will engender a great discussion as it did on Twitter, as these issues still exist.
@jackbrewster@louie There's a notion that "the content should be king"… except that only really works in situations where you're passively consuming it. If you need to actually operate on it, YOU NEED VISIBLE CONTROLS AND AFFORDANCES. It's fucking maddening.
I graduated from the Stanford Business Graduate School LEAD Program yesterday! For a 47 year old guy that never graduated from college (I dropped out) I’m pretty darn thrilled 😁
Going through old photos from my iPhone era (the gap between my Canon era and my Fuji era) for Reasons and I’m finding that I prefer the rendering of the iPhone 6 plus to my current phone, the 13
The photos from the 13 constantly feel bland, oversharp, and generic
@baldur yeah. It’s because they’re increasing edge contrast artificially bs optically. The pixels captured on an iPhone are still potato-level if you zoom in, and this is meant to compensate. You can’t overcome physics with processing.
Personally, I’d rather less processing and a larger sensor. Maybe fewer megapixels. I think also, most people don’t feel that way.
My guess: #Trump may have someone like #Musk co-signing Chubb bond, so the bank is comfortable being on the hook for the judgment. Same could happen for the bond for AG $450M judgment. & this strategy wd allow co-signor to say truthfully that they did not give or loan Trump any $
Joyce Vance:
This=important pt. Trump is beholden to someone & we don't know who. Reporters shd ask him to explain all of the details. GOP leaders shd, but probably won't be esp concerned.
