Not sure if setting snipers on the rooftops of universities overlooking unarmed, peaceful student protests is the best way to demonstrate how committed your society is to freedom and democracy.

But I'm no political strategist.

I'm really not liking the trend in the US. 😕

Farmers there are not allowing proper reporting of the situation because they fear it will hurt their businesses. So there is very little transparency with regards to the current situation and the extent of the spread.

Capitalism will kill us all because

The timeless Anthem for antifascist , here in Goran Bregovic's version which is lively and energetic.

One of my favourite songs ever, in its myriad versions. And present in every revolution, rebellion and uprising all over the world.

The capital city of Bogotá in Colombia 🇨🇴 (population 8 million) has been divided into nine sectors, which will each go 24 hours without water on an assigned day before the cycle repeats itself.

The city's reserves are at a record low due to an extended drought caused by El Niño and worsened by climate change.

No, we absolutely should not "push through minor illnesses and keep attendance up".

Someone's minor sniffles is someone else's hospital stay is someone else's death sentence.

Don't spread any diseases if you can avoid it.

Have we learned nothing? (rhetoric question, I know we refuse to learn anything at all)

I know most people would rather not think about it, but we need to acknowledge that, since we decided to let covid spread uncontrolled, a significant and growing portion of the population is now walking around with compromised immune systems.

Common illnesses are now more dangerous than they used to be. We should act accordingly.

This is what "living with the virus" actually means.

You too can !

Reminder that one of the most impactful, but also simplest, individual actions you can take is to check whether your retirement savings, or any investments, are supporting the genocidal regime.

And then move them to a fund that doesn't.

It worked against apartheid South Africa.
It will work again.

"Mate, you work the same job I do.
You're at least as worried as I am about losing it, if not more.

You, like pretty much everyone at this workplace, need to sell your labour to survive.
You don't make money from owning things.
That means you're not a capitalist, you're a worker.

You've just been propagandised since birth to see yourself as a temporarily embarrassed millionaire so you keep supporting the class interests of your oppressors."

Regardless, my ACT voting coworker never learns.

My normie friend: Dude, I heard they got an AI to talk to another AI, and they like had a conversation and everything! Aren't you concerned?

Me: About chatbots talking to each other? Not really. I'm worried about the industrialised spam mill infinitely churning out false content that will make most of the information we have either unfindable or unreliable. Or about AI currently deployed to automate the bombing of Palestinian people at genocidal scale.

Friend: 😳

Me: why do I have few friends?

So the earthquake was very strong.
But did you notice how their buildings tip over without collapsing like pancakes over themselves?

That's the result of a proper earthquake-proof building code. People survive and can be rescued, relatively easily and safely.

Getting rid of safety regulations, for the sake of "cutting red tape and unleashing businesses", is how we get the opposite of that.

Thankfully our governments understand that. Right?
.... Right? /s

It's 2024.

Any plan to address attendance at schools that fails to improve air quality is not serious, and will backfire.

These are facts.
Students, aides, and teachers are getting sick at school. Repeatedly and progressively worse.

Forcing sick kids to school does nothing to fix that.
It does a lot to worsen it.

We once proudly implemented the best pandemic response in the world.

Because we followed the science.
Because we cared about each other.
Because we communicated clearly the problems and strategies.

How far we've fallen.
How stubbornly our leaders refuse to acknowledge and adapt to reality.
How many lives, how many people's health will we sacrifice for this nostalgia of 2019?

As @seawall said earlier,
We could have it so much better.

Now that autumn is getting on its way, it's good to remember that leaves enrich the ground and provide shelter for lifeforms that are good for the health of the soil and the ecosystem.

Leave the leaves.
