Signs of the in action: Three of the top 6 fastest growing servers are not only not Mastodon.social but they are not even microblogging servers - but rather are servers.

That is only seriously good for the entire Fedi infrastructure. Diversity is strength.

How to talk about the #fediverse / #activitypub without mentioning it?

Do people understand these buzzwords, or should we just talk about "follow" or "subscribe" and walk them through the process??

@pfefferle I dig @stefan's https://jointhefediverse.net as an intro to it all- have you seen it? I feel like it explains the whole thing pretty well, and simply? Maybe ideal for a first time user? Would be curious to see how someone unfamiliar with the fediverse would react to it.

I plan on adjusting the way https://fedidb.org calculates metrics for total users, popular instances and a few others to improve accuracy.

Also planning on adding an "Audit Log" that lists any changes I make to metric calculation, and which instances have been hidden or not included (and why).

@dansup Love your work on fedidb Daniel! Considering how much that project is now growing in scope/importance, would it maybe be an idea to make an official fedi account for it? I'm trying to keep track of all the changes and plans youre making for it, and its quite a lot at this point.

I love how Automattic (the company behind wordpress) embraces the protocol. It's a great fit philosophically and I am curious to see where it goes.

I just tried to hook it up via the plugin to use it to share photos. But it seems like images are not yet supported? Would be a nice way to build a personal instagram-like feed, especially when the comments are synced.

@pfefferle (sorry for summoning you so ruthlessly), are you planning to integrate support for the post's main image?

Alright, this is priceless - this is why we say that the is magical!

So, @kraft who works at Automattic (creator of WordPress) pops in to check out . We start a chat about how they have a "Share to Mastodon" button, but that doesn't cover the richness of platforms in the Fediverse. Bam, less than 12 hours later, Automattic are officially discussing how they could implement a "Share to the Fediverse" button, connecting the rest of the platforms potentially to hundreds of millions of websites using WordPress.

Is that something, or what?

Alright junkies, I'm a Mastodon instance admin and I'm an engineering group lead at Automattic (think the company of WordPress' founder) who is leading the work to add Mastodon as a supported service for our Jetpack Social product.

That said, what's the sell to get me to spend more time here?

I'm putting a fresh coat of paint on the https://fediverse.info/explore/people directory!

It's an opt-in directory of fediverse accounts based on bio hashtags, to join simply add the tag to your bio and follow the directions on the directory page.

I'm also building an API so @pixelfed and other projects can build discovery/profile recommendations.

Huge news 🥳

WordPress now has 3,000 ActivityPub plug-in installs.

Which means that on a per node basis, WordPress’s install base is appr. 25% comparative to the size of Mastodon’s install base.

If I were to hazard a guess, WordPress is now the 2nd largest Fediverse server software in terms of active nodes.

In terms of Fediverse server installs, it’s more than possible that WordPress could overtake Mastodon.
