Technically you have to put your toe in with the sharks for this to have been a violation on the #drivers' part. Pedestrians are also technically within their rights to signal their intent to cross by deploying a spike strip ("including but not limited to cane, crutch or bicycle.")

@enobacon that rules is really silly and needs to be updated.

The hundred foot avenues (in this case, York Avenue in Manhattan) claim another victim.

We know how to make them safe. Let's do it all over the city!

@Rjdlandscapes The article you linked says they are ending ultra cruise, not super cruise.

If you wanted to put 1000W of solar charging on your EV, how would you connect that? Sounds like it would take yet another DC-DC converter and then go in through the 400V bus?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gDILvW5yMg

phil,
@phil@urbanists.social avatar

@enobacon yeah, you’d essentially be “fast charging” with 48 volts, or whatever comes out of the cells. Hyundai somehow does this with the rear motor inverter, but I don’t understand how that works.

“Is this the conservative thing to do to create another entitlement program, in effect to create a third education system?”

Rural teamed up with House Dems to reject from the massive school spending bill, HB 1. It's the latest embarrassing blow to the governor's agenda, according to Reporting Fellow @josephinelee: https://www.texasobserver.org/hb-1-vouchers-omnibus-special-session?utm_medium=social&utm_source=mastodon&utm_campaign=audience

phil,

@TexasObserver @josephinelee “Choosing” a school in a state with zero transportation options that aren’t “car” seems like a nightmare for everyone. Can you imagine what millions of families driving their kids across town every rush hour would do to traffic?

Volunteers from @bikeloudpdx shouldn't need to stand in front of #PBOT contractors' trucks to stop them from removing #pdxBikes infrastructure, but that's where we are with the current dysfunction at city hall. (Yes, even while they scramble to fill a budget hole that will cost union jobs.) Get involved and let #Portland's elected officials know that #ClimateAction, #SafeStreets & #VisionZero are popular + too important to trade for a few free on-street #parking spaces.

@enobacon @bikeloudpdx What the hell? That NE 33rd bike lane is like 3 weeks old and they are removing it? I mean, it's totally pointless since it's like a block long and has cars parked in it at all times with zero enforcement, but still...

I need to sign up for these alerts. I can almost see this intersection from my window and I wasn't there. :(

@bikestuffpdx Well, we are a Republic. And I agree that a pure democracy is a terrible idea. I have my own life it live. I want to elect a representative, not carry the burden of running a country myself.

@mph I also used MacBooks until a few years ago. Now I have no idea why you’d want an aluminum shell. The ThinkPads are plastic, but still feel really premium and I can use them while wearing a watch. Also, Linux never works right in a MacBook, which is probably more important…

Thank god we're almost past the era of "every frame is perfect" on Wayland, yeah Vsync is great for general computing, browsing the web, watching videos, but it should never have been forced, it should have been on by default with user control to disable for cases like gaming.

Making the curb lane of every stroad into a bus-and-turn-only lane may not sound like it would make a huge difference. But I would far prefer this vehicle be a camera-equipped public-agency-operated bus passing me and my kid than some rando in a garbage truck, hummer, etc. Half of the time, the bus driver is stopping and will wait for you to get past the stop anyway.
