under 10 minutes trip time each way. doubt this would have been much faster with a car honestly.

Listen I love , but we 1000% need more of this type of outdoor seating and activity space that is quiet and entirely separated from cars. A Fußgängerzone, essentially.

This picture also illustrates nicely why when people say "let's have a beer on the patio" and the "patio" is three feet wide and next to a four-lane urban highway I will probably not join them

did some shopping on our Rad Bikes today. were immediately approached by an elderly couple asking "how do you like your Rad Bikes??", so we shared how much we love them.*

the reason they were familiar with the brand was that a lot of their friends apparently had bought a Rad Bike over the past year, and every single one of them just loves it.

when I bought this bike, I was still in school and needed a simple, inexpensive bike that would get me from A to B. bonus points for offering my first foray into single-speed/fixed gear riding (it has a flip-flop hub!)

tbh I did not think this bike was going to last this long!! whether for wear & tear or theft reasons.

these are the original tires, if you can believe it. absolutely nuts how sturdy this guy is.

I participated in a "vision zero" consultation on my neighbourhood - both the online and the in person parts.

Just got the "what we heard" report in my email. Most of what I wrote isn't in there. I guess they didn't hear those parts.

@dragonfrog I had the exact same experience when they did consultation for neighborhood renewal in my area. I took pictures of the dot voting boards etc, and when they sent out the "results", the top asks/wishes/priorities from the community were just like.... not reflected.

It was also notable that the priorities were basically the same as in a much richer area that had just gone through this.... and the outcome in terms of infra was VERY different.

I don't like this process.

So in Alberta, we're only allowed one booster per year now. This creates a dilemma: since I'm finally eligible for a booster, do I jump on the first options to market or shop around for a specific option that might be more effective.

@arratoon ugh. for us it's the stove, a cheap alarm clock, a cheap analog Ikea wall clock, the coffee maker,...

this is partially due to the fact that I am not a big fan of connected/IoT/"everything talks to google and amazon all the time" devices, which obv would update by themselves 😂

honestly I'm basically at the point where I might leave a bunch of those the way they are, just like your cycling computer. they'll come back around to being correct eventually 🤷

Well that's fun. I just read that there AI's can hallucinate, i.e. generate responses that are not reflective of the source data. What could go wrong?

When I first started hearing about this, I asked about new publications in this very tiny academic field I used to work in, and sure enough...

The "authors" it mentioned truly did/do work in that field, but the collaborations between them, as well as the actual "papers", were all complete bogus.

So, I took a bike in for maintenance, and they said the handlebar tape needed replacing. (Fine.) It had been pink to match the pink lettering on the bike.

However, when I came to pick up the bike they had put a boring gray tape on it instead. Was I unreasonable to ask that they exchange it for pink as it was before? Does anyone else care about the color of their handlebar tape?

I care about the colour of my bar tape as well (currently it is bright green).
