What does a city that has spurned cars look like?

Olympics visitors to Paris will get a look

Changes designed to encourage people to take other forms of transportation have contributed to a 40% decline in air pollution, according to city officials.

Paris has closed more than 100 streets to motor vehicles, tripled parking fees for SUVs, removed roughly 50,000 parking spots, and constructed more than 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) of bike lanes

Spoiler alert: due to shrinkflation and greedflation, they aren't that much bigger than the 'mini' versions anymore.

101 studies flagged as bogus COVID cure pusher sees career unravel

It's a past-due reckoning for French microbiologist Didier Raoult, critics say.

Essentially, critics claim Raoult and the institute that he led until 2021, the Hospital Institute of Marseille Mediterranean Infection (IHU), conducted hundreds of studies on humans without appropriate ethical approval or oversight or adequate consent from all participants, the Science investigation found.

‘Land of the free, and home of the medical bankruptcy’: Ex–surgeon general blasts health care system after getting $4,896.43 bill for dehydration

“The bottom line is high-deductible plans are the least worst option for most people in a broken system. But health care coverage in the U.S. is a gamble, and the house always wins. I didn’t drink enough water while traveling, and I crapped out,” he tweeted.

"a device that could have stopped the bleeding in Rashid's liver was repossessed by the manufacturer weeks earlier.

"the manufacturer had come to "retrieve any embolization coils at the hospital" because Steward hadn't paid its bills. According to a lawsuit filed by the manufacturer, Steward owed about $2.5 million in unpaid bills.

A small drone flies into a damaged Fukushima reactor for the first time to study its melted fuel

The drones, each weighing only 185 grams are highly maneuverable and the blades hardly stir up dust. It carries a front-loaded high definition camera to send live video and a higher-quality images to an operating room.

880 tons of highly radioactive nuclear fuel remain inside the three damaged reactors. Critics say the 30- to 40-year cleanup target is overly optimistic.

Is there any good use for old and ancient iPads?

I inherited a couple devices. The laptop was so thoroughly hacked I gave up - HP locked down the bios making it pretty hard to install #Ubuntu and UNETbootin wasn't working because the hacked device was blocked from downloading an ISO given my limited skills. Plus I didn't want to spend hours working trying to rescue a 10 year old hacked laptop.

The health care system is ignoring world’s most promising approach to preventing cardiovascular disease

"Rather than individualize therapy, they proposed that everyone over age 50 or 55 take a daily “polypill” composed of three inexpensive low-dose generic blood pressure medicines, a generic statin (to lower cholesterol), folic acid, and possibly low-dose aspirin. (Later versions omitted folic acid; aspirin remains an option.)"
