The last one I took before I ran out of battery charge. It was a most amazing night, first the anticipation and then gradually it came, getting stronger by the minute, as it got darker and darker. 11:30pm was way past my bedtime.

Whenever an org says it wants to use ‘AI’ for a better customer experience, it is almost certainly lying.

Customers are not clamoring for shitty chat bots that extend the time to get to a real human. Customers are not asking for LLM-authored SEO-driven FAQ pages. Customers are not asking for yet more hero images of people with extra fingers.

The org is likely only interested in using ‘AI’ to reduce effort, save money, cut staff.

@StillIRise1963 capitalists follow cheap labor wherever it leads. Until consumers stop buying their products they will continue to do so. As long as we continue to buy a sweater or coat for $15, made by workers earning $15 a month, they will continue to abuse workers. If only the consumer realized that the power to make the changes is theirs.

    Polls a year out from the election don’t tell us much, so I don’t put too much stock in them, or in the polling on much of anything lately. And there’s this, too: If a pollster tried to call me, they’d never get through. I don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize. Too many scams.

    Sometimes I get so overwhelmed I can’t stand it.

    I never, ever would have suspected growing up that in my “golden years,” I’d be consumed by the real and present dangers of catastrophic climate change and fascism in this country.

    Still fighting like hell, but that’s not the point of this post, so no need to tell me to “keep fighting, don’t give up.”

    I’m allowed, as you are, to feel scared, alarmed, overwhelmed sometimes.

    This is one of those times.

    @GottaLaff yeah, I’m really lucky that way. But we have “the big dark” where it gets lighter later and dark earlier, topped with heavily overcast days. So counting stitches while crocheting and puzzling fills the hours when it’s too cold and cloudy. I can’t say I miss 82 degree November days.

    Folks, some mindless dickholes in Congress are reportedly introducing deeply unserious legislation to expel Palestinians from the US. This won’t pass, but it also should never have been proposed. Much like we shouldn’t expel people who are Jewish, or folks from Japan, or everyone from Iran, or anyone of Chinese background, or the Irish, it is insane to propose expelling Palestinians. It is fucking racist, xenophobic, nazi trash. And ya know what I always say — it’s always OK to punch a nazi.
