No need for spells, eldritch invocations, or inherent abilities to see Thunderbird's dark side. To enable dark mode in Thunderbird:

Feel free to tell everyone you know about this! Repeatedly. :angery:

Well, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is my contract working with the @thunderbird project ended yesterday. :blobcatsadpats:

The good (okay, great) news is that yesterday I signed an offer letter for a full-time, fixed term staff position with Thunderbird! I'll still be working the socials, but expanding into more marketing, ads, and partnerships. I am excited and beyond grateful to keep working in open source with a team I adore and a project I admire. :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

Big thank you to @dogphilosopher for an update to flatpaks on Bluefin. Now flatpaks can be preinstalled from the ISO rather than having to download them on first boot in order to provide the intended experience. That means @thunderbird on the dock by default!

Awesome step forward for us to be able to bring you intended apps by default without straying from @flathub

If you can help with testing the new ISOs, please see below for instructions.

Now that we have fully offline ISOs can ship with @thunderbird right on the dock, as intended. Looks great, and I love the ptyxis icon so much lol.

I still adore this screenshot.

Also, some interesting @thunderbird trivia: In 2004, blazing fast internet access wasn't nearly as widespread as it is now, so Mozilla offered to send installation CD-ROMs to users for $5.95.

Having used web (Gmail for personal, sometimes Outlook for work) email for many years, I forgot how good Thunderbird is. I recently switched back to using it, and it's just as good as I remember, if not better. Good job, @thunderbird team!

Thunderbird is an email client with built-in support for PGP encryption.

Messages are encrypted/decrypted in the client and remain encrypted on email servers, this is client-side encryption.

Some email providers support PGP encryption server-side, this method could be vulnerable to third-party decryption of emails.

Thanks to our IT!

The Outlook app for iOS and Android as well as the Outlook (new) app for Windows 11 [...] represents a security risk.
[...] the IT departments have decided to prevent access to university exchange e-mail accounts via these apps from 08.01.2024.

Other IT security officers in their companies or institutions are welcome to follow this example.

And they also have (mostly) very good suggestions with @thunderbird , @kde KMail, @EvolutionGnome and K-9 Mail.

Non-permitted email programs: Outlook App (Android/iOS), Outlook (new) (Windows 11), Mail App (Switch "The new Outlook" activated) (Windows 10)
Suggestions: Mail App (new Outlook deactivated) (Windows 10) Gmail (Android) Apple Mail (iOS / macOS) Thunderbird (Windows, macOS, Linux) KMail (Windows, Linux) Evolution (Linux) K-9 Mail (Android) Samsung Mail (Android)

Don't worry, we're not about to "RIIR" - this is enabling new code next year to supercharge the backend architecture for your favourite mail client.
