opened the kitchen window tonight. the screen has some holes, but I didn't have the light on, so I didn't worry about bugs getting in.

next thing i know there's a massive June Bug in the living room, FLAGRANTLY VIOLATING THE SOCIAL CONTRACT THAT'S RIGHT THERE IN ITS NAME.

@tantramar maybe it's just a May Bug. Did you check its ID ?

@violinguy@mastodon.world avatar

@tantramar that'll teach you to duct tape those holes like a true handyman.

@tantramar lots of us procrastinate like that. Gave you an amusing story though.

More soy toots: when you buy soy sauce look at the ingredient list and label.

If it has ‘hydrolyzed soy protein’, it’ll be roughly the same quality as ‘cheap Chinese restaurant takeout soy sauce packets’. Soy sauce made from chemical processes. It doesn’t taste good to me and is usually amped up with sugar.

If it just says ‘soy beans’, and the label says ‘naturally brewed’ or ‘naturally fermented’ or ‘first draw soy sauce’ it will be pretty good.

@skinnylatte what about that Bragg sauce ?

All digital businesses have the technical capacity to enshittify: the ability to change the underlying functions of the business from moment to moment and user to user, allowing for the rapid transfer of value between business customers, end users and shareholders:

@StillIRise1963 it was bullshit for the rubes.

With Pluralistic, the solo blog I founded 4 years ago, I've moved into longer, more synthetic essays that try to connect the things that caught my attention today with all those things I've written about for the past two decades. That's also proven very fruitful:

@pluralistic I wanted to see ELO one last time soon like I did at the CNE in the 70s. Can't afford to go. Only scalped Ticketmaster tickets available. Could muster $200.

This is your reminder not to censor yourself because you're afraid you'll lose followers.

Only the people who stay are worth knowing who you are. Be you. Be as much as yourself as you want to put out there, but be yourself.

We need more sincere people who aren't trying to put on a show to get followers. People just being themselves. Sometimes goofy, sometimes angry, sometimes brilliant, but always true selves.

To me, that's what makes a great social media platform. People being who they are.

@Mrfunkedude okay, er sure. Haven't spend much time on X have you ?

Historian Timothy Snyder asks us -- all of us -- if we understand the whirlwind we are going to reap if we sell out Ukraine. https://www.kyivpost.com/opinion/23878

Everything will get worse if this happens. Everything.

violinguy,
@violinguy@mastodon.world avatar

@dangillmor When is the financial cost to the western nations such as America too much to prop up Ukraine. ? When their currency is devalued ? When their credit score drops ? I don't know and not saying I do.
