"...it is striking how silent the international community remains towards Rwanda. Multiple recent United Nations reports have extensively documented direct Rwandan military support for the M23 rebellion – support that Kigali itself denies.
... The comparison with both Ukraine and Israel/Palestine is frequently made in the country: where is the attention to the Congolese crisis?"

Hello Fediverse. I'm posting this tonight from my federated Flipboard profile! We're now testing our #ActivityPub integration starting with my account. You can follow me here to see all the stories I'm curating about things like startups, photography and of course, the #Fediverse. Curious to hear your thoughts on how this is working. We’ll incorporate your feedback as we make more progress on federating Flipboard. Stay tuned for lots more soon.
To respond en masse to all the Mastodon folks who have been sending me angry messages regarding my presence here versus on other social media platforms, I'll say only this: that sure isn't a great way to convince a person to spend more time here. I'm baffled by it, and very disappointed.
@weatherwest I'm sorry people are being angry, it's weird and counterproductive. I'm actually following you from kbin.social not from mastodon and just grateful you crosspost.
@freemo you seem to be under a misapprehension. It has never been legal in New Zealand to own a gun for self defence.
Any hint that you want a gun for that, you would lose your gun license. We have an average level of gun ownership by OECD standards but they are used as tools, not weapons.
New Zealand has only had one school shooting in history, and it was in 1923.
Today’s visible progress. Wind kept me from putting a sheet up until late when the wind dropped. Only tacked in place. Tomorrow we test the hanging ladder. #Nunavut#Arctic#CabinLife
One of our wonderful science team members, Alex Michaud, took this photo of the #ice#sculptures at Lake Fryxell in the #McMurdo Dry Valleys. There's an exceptionally dry climate there, partially due to katabatic winds descending from the nearby mountains. These winds can exceed 320 km/h (200 mph) under certain conditions. #antarctica#climate#swais2c#howmuchhowfast
