Looking for an outlet to place my more #tech-focused (and thus less #tax or strictly #law) policy writing -- anyone know of an outlet that might be amenable to a freelance contributor?
DMs are open, I'm a weekly columnist at Bloomberg Tax, contributor to Forbes Money, among some others. Looking for a tech publication that wouldn't mine hearing a tax/tech attorney and prof opine on things like the currently being contemplated #FCC AI rules, etc.
Google is taking “swift action” to remove some of the bizarre AI-generated answers appearing at the top of its search pages. “A company once known for being at the cutting edge and shipping high-quality stuff is now known for low-quality output that’s getting meme’d,” one AI founder, who wished to remain anonymous, said. @LinuxAndYarn it was a real novelty and exciting back then. I don’t remember what it did, my friend seemed enthusiastic though. I didn’t realize they were all being given out free though until I read this article.
The newest most powerful chips from Intel and AMD don't qualify for Microsoft's newest CoPilot+ AI branding. We're already seeing INCREDIBLE deals on crazy powerful PCs, because of all the AI hype! Here's my review of the Geekom A8, with a BEAST of an AMD chip inside! https://somegadgetguy.com/b/45e
African AI workers, mostly from Kenya, released an open letter to Joe Biden this week asking him stop US tech companies from “systemically abusing and exploiting African workers” and to end the “modern day slavery” they’re subjected to.
We want a future of repairable gadgets and less ewaste.
5-7 years of software support doesn't mean anything if we can't keep the hardware running well for 7 years.
Glad to see iFixit didn't go quiet on this one.
I've been trying to highlight Samsung's scummy business practices for a couple years now, but when they can't even make a support contract work with iFixit, it's a REAL bad look.

“Most people are not aware of the resource usage underlying ChatGPT,” Ren said. “If you’re not aware of the resource usage, then there’s no way that we can help conserve the resources.”
In July 2022, the month before OpenAI says it completed its training of GPT-4, Microsoft pumped in about 11.5 million gallons of water to its cluster of Iowa data centers, according to the West Des Moines Water Works. That amounted to about 6% of all the water used in the district, which also supplies drinking water to the city’s residents.
Will the #Tech IDU prioritize mitigating #climatechange & improving tech for users, or will they only work on hyping #A1, #crypto, ...?
CC is the apparent reason for increased air turbulence...
Passengers on board the Singapore Airlines flight that encountered severe turbulence in the skies over Asia suffered traumatic harm ranging from spinal cord to skull & brain injuries. Medics are still treating a wide-range of injuries, including some severe ones-.
