… #Republican elections board member, Catherine McCrory, said…
“There’s no doubt in my mind that [#Trump] manipulated, instigated, aided, & abetted an #insurrection on #Jan6. However, having said that, it’s not my place to rule on that today. So I will say yes to the motion as far as not having #jurisdiction to rule on that fact today,” she added.
A fmr #Republican judge appointed to hear arguments on whether to disqualify #Trump from the #Illinois primary ballot said on Sun that he believed Trump engaged in #insurrection by attempting to remain in office after the 2020 election.
But the fmr judge, Clark Erickson, whose nonbinding opinion (was) considered by the State Board of Elections on Tues, added that he believed the board did not have the authority to disqualify #Trump on those grounds & that the question should instead be left to the courts.
The more states that pile on for Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to be put in effect for removing an insurrectionist from the ballot in a POTUS election, the more SCOTUS is going to have to explain any decision to the contrary.

It seems appropriate that yesterday, my family & I were driving home from Kentucky, and came through #Olney#Illinois. As we had done on previous such trips to visit family, we drove around the town, hoping to spot one of their famous #WhiteSquirrels, but were (once again) unsuccessful.🐿🌰☹️
More than once, I thought I spotted one. But my theory is that it's hard to distinguish any of them in the snow. So we could only pose next to the town's squirrel statue.
#OlneyIllinois holds regular counts of their #AlbinoSquirrel population, and has strict laws about loose cats and dogs, to protect their unique squirrel colony.

Local #BenchArt #GenevieveTowsley (1907-1995) was a local journalist, author, and historian. She frequently wrote articles featuring local immigrant families, and her stories resulted in a nearby pool becoming racially integrated. Her work to save a historic building founded the #NapervilleHeritageSociety.
The bench is very inviting. Pedestrians often stop to rest or take a selfie with Genevieve. She sits outside of a #BarnesAndNoble bookstore, at the corner of Washington St and Chicago Ave in #Naperville#Illinois.
Genevieve's statue has been here many years, but Naperville is known for its wide variety of #SidewalkSculpture displays, which are changed out frequently. The artist is Pamela Carpenter of nearby Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
